Psyonix making vehicle sports for PSN

Score goals and crash cars in mid-air.

Psyonix Studio, the developer porting Monster Madness to PS3, is working on a PSN game called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Which is quite a mouthful.

Due out this autumn, SARPBC is an automotive sports game based around trying to score goals, much like the Top Gear team playing car football.

Only, here there are boosters to zip over and ridiculous acrobatics, and with everything ruled by a physics engine, the outcome should be nothing less than unpredictable.

There are all sorts of team leagues and statistics to keep track of and, while the emphasis is on multiplayer, there are also single-player bouts and mini-games for the lonely type.

Pop over to our Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars gallery to find out more.

Thats a brilliant game name, the screenshots are less impressive than its title but hopefully it will be fun

Is it just me or does this game look like great fun? Compatible with PSP hopefully?

I think that this is the kind of thing that former Edge editor was talking about yesterday :)

Sounds just as exiting as Pain (=dull)

Yeah Pain was probably the worst £5 ive ever spent, this does look better though.

Haha the long title reminds of the cartoon. *clears throat* "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go" My man, WHY i ask, WHY the log name!?

Pain is awesome. I thought it would be crap but it's surprisingly deep and addictive, once you get the hang of the Oomph system and hanging onto and throwing things ... grab a crate, fall onto the tracks while the building structure collapses, blow up the train (sometimes you manage to derail it and crash it into the street or into the terrace), see the construction worker and his thing collapse, watch the gas tank (or whatever it is) explode, and then try to move on into the street where you let yourself run over by several cars, maybe take a walking cow out in the process, or a cyclist, etc.

God I've been addicted to this thing, got it only 1-2 months ago. And the physics are damn impressive at times too.

Can't wait for the Amusement Park extension.

If the physics are really good, this game could be a lot of fun.

I bought Pain from the US store for $5 in their sale. It's pretty good for that money.

Anyone else read that as Psygnosis and suddenly get excited?

One would read that as a typo, I think. Weren't they renamed to Liverpool Studio or something?

Yup, they're now Studio Liverpool, the WipEout team.

I miss when F1 games were good. Their games were light years ahead of everything.
