I know, I'm also going to complain about ongoing firmware support!

Who do they think they are?

I thought that on any day of the year we could expect a PSP update "soon"?

Adds stability for not-being-able-to-use-homebrew features, I expect.

@Steroyd

I say it's getting silly because every time I go to play the blasted thing I need to update the firmware. It's the same with my PS3. The PSP and PS3 are the most updated consoles out there and every time you update the console you run the risk of bricking it. It's not like the updates are automatic either. You have to faf about connecting to networks etc. etc.

And don't get me started about the secrecy they seem to hold over what the heck these updates are supposed to do/fix/update!

you harldy HAVE to update the psp everytime theres is a new firmware, it will still work you know. If a game specifically needs a firmware to work then the firmware comes on the UMD with it.

Yes, but you may not be able to use the PSP store until you do update your firmware.

Just update your PS3/PSP when you're not planning to play on it, especially with the PS3's auto turn off after firmwire is installed feature.

I like how my PS3 is constantly maintained rather than waiting 6 months for the next DivX update.

People will complain of too many updates, people will complain of the lack of updates.

You cant win really.

@penhallion - how often do you use it, once a year?

Unlike the PS3, you don't miss out on much if you don't update your firmware everytime it comes out.

I think the PS3 updates are fantastic - I think I've only ever come across 1 video file that it didn't play. Everything else just goes straight off my portable HD and onto my telly. No video conversion or anything else required.

Yay!
