PS3 trophies now in Super Stardust HD
Uncharted, Burnout Paradise to join in.
Super Stardust HD has been updated to support the fancy trophy system for PlayStation 3.
The game patch, weighing in at 255 MB, adds 17 trophies for you to collect. Bronze rewards are handed out for things such as completing campaigns, silver accolades awarded for achievements like collecting varying amounts of tokens, and gold cups given out for attaining the 10x score multiplier or surviving in co-op. PS3 Fanboy has a full list.
Burnout Paradise developer Criterion has also publicly offered its support of the trophy system, assuring us it will be added to its smashing racer "soon", although not in the "Cagney" update due on 10th July.
PlayStation Network boss Eric Lempel recently unveiled excellent action adventure outing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune as another that will hop on the trophy bandwagon at "some point in the foreseeable future", too.
Trophy and in-game XMB support go live in the 2.4 firmware update for PlayStation 3 today.
Developers are under no mandatory obligation to add trophies to their games, but those promised to feature them so far are Buzz! Quiz TV (out this Friday, 4th July), LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, NBA 09, PAIN, PixelJunk Eden, Resistance 2, SOCOM: Confrontation and Warhawk.
Firmware 2.4 will also up the friends list limit to 100 people and add a "mini-control panel that you can use while playing music" and a Google search option similar to the one recently added to PSP.
Sony attempted to sit down and answer some of your questions about the 2.4 update yesterday.

Got 2.4 & Stardust patch this morning, but still have no trophies. The game makes no mention of what's required to get each trophy, but I have since read the list online.
Can't wait for wireless Buzz action this weekend.

You just press the PS button then go to the Trophys menu and it will list all your trophy enabled games if you go into a game on that list it will list all the trophys there are available
I currently have 1 Bronze one -^_^

Well done! Is your launch machine still going or are you on your second or third by now?

Looking forward to a 2nd play through of Uncharted. I thought that had a pretty good built in Reward System anyway with all the trinkets you could collect and unlocking of Behind the scenes videos. This should add a little more to the game though.
EDIT: I snooze I lose...

Speaking of which even though I DID get 100% there were still some things that were locked... I better check gamefaqs or something about that.

No you weren't. You were getting gamerscore. Idiot.

..never gets old does it?
I like the way that it's laid out, the leveling up system is good I think.
I've got one silver and a few bronze so far. Trying to last 45 seconds without boost or weapons in survival was a total stress. At 20 seconds hell is unleashed big time. I kept hitting 40 seconds and pushed 43 for a while but finally got to 47 secs.

What's funny is your poor attempt at trolling and your grammer in that post, despite the fact you actually went back and edited it.

It's a great little extra - and with the addition of in game XMB also ala 360 - makes me much more likely to purchase a PS3 - well done Sony for seeing sense and giving gamers what they want.

And by the way, that Retro sound option is bloody brilliant, init!
SSHD, one of my all time fave's. Like it more that Bad Company and a ton of other "pretty good but not as good as it should be" releases.

I still find it funny how the Xbots keep saying it's the same. No it isn't. Trophies only come in 4 different denominations, Gamerscore much more. And Trophies have a persistent RPG-style levelling system. It may make achievements more fairly laid out, too, instead of getting lots of little 5-pointers for doing massive things (Forza2, anyone?)
Both systems are good, and different. I for one am looking forward to trophywhoring.

Well I'm gonna find it even funnier when MS makes the official announcement of avatars in E3 and XBots begin wanking in anticipation, nevermind what's been said about Home

Most reports suggest this has nothing to do with Home and will be more like Miis.

I guess it is just a logical evolution from gamer pictures (or custom forum pictures like all the WoW character stats). people like to personalize their looks on their GTs. You will be able to buy costumes as well ofc.
MS will probably include 360 SDK support for including these in your game. But yeah... the use is limited since you really cannot integrate this without breaking the "immersion" of games
BTW Gamerpad 3D is also not Home.... it is more like housing in MMORPGs. No big MMO-like world (like Home)... just a "house" only that your friends can visit. No real use IMHO... but if people want it I have no probs with it.

Well a certain trophy in SSHD is pissing me off because it's disrupting my concentration, half of me wants to beat my high score the other half wants to survive for 7 minutes. >
I've never had beef with achievements, they've been prevelant in PS3 games, like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance and MGS4 (which I recently got the Big boss emblem), it's the overall gamerscore across the board (do any Xbox 360 achievements even award you with in-game stuff?) That makes me not understand the achievement whore culture of people playing games for the achievements rather than having fun with the game.
For example someone won't even attempt the Big Boss emblem in MGS4 because it doesn't have a trophy attached to it, the unlockables you get for getting said emblem isn't motivation enough...wtf!?

There are a couple of keys to the right of your "M" key you might want to get acquainted with.

The gamerscore system is much better than trophys and ranks imo - especially since it doesn't support every game, it doesn't make much sense!

And eventually trophy's will be mandatory with all games, just teething problems because it wasn't introduced at the start.

Not too sure about the "pushing the Cell" remark, but it is one of the best games ever. And one of the best games on PS3.
I've played COD4 for more than 100 hours, but time-wise, SSHD takes second place with ease.
For a downloadable game, that quite an achievement... euh... Trophy

Don't think i'll try the easier ones on arcade though, Arcade mode seems...too slow compared to what is in the solo pack and to what i'm used to.
Damn my s***ty cousin, i wanted to get the Co-op achievement lol.

But no-one else has spoken out about how much they don't like the idea of having the "idiotic" achievements like the 360!
oh well, Sony knows they can't win the console war so they try to make their console like a 360 with a bit of Wii included
/Waits for more angry Sony fanboys

Yes: sometimes they award free gamerpics (lots of arcade games, and big games like gaiden or gears do), sometimes in-game stuff like the hayabusa armor in halo3, weapons in mass effect, or extra costumes in dead rising. it's up to the developpers, I guess...
