PS3 Store weekly update

Still no PES 2008 demo. Sniff.

As another week dissolves into a bubbly beer, so do lots of new bits and pieces make their way onto the PS3 Store.

Unfortunately, though, there is still no sign of the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 demo that 360 owners were treated to at the end of September. Sony says it doesn't know where it is, and Konami is off watching some PES Euro finals in Spain.

However, what there is this week is a taster for that other football game FIFA 08, as well as demos for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and The Simpsons.

Eidos has also popped out another of those downloadable content packs for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, too; this time it is the Speed Master Pack, which throws waves of enemies at you and asks you to slice them up as quickly as possible. This will cost you GBP 2.99 (EUR 4.27).

Elsewhere there is a teaser trailer for Fallout 3, a trio of videos for disappointing action game Lair, and a look at Pixel Junk Racers.

Or you can simply sit back and do a spot of decorating with five new wallpapers: two for Pixel Junk Racers, two for Lair, and one for Folklore.

That's not a bad haul, all told. But why no Ratchet demo?

It just sniffs on 'mediocre' and 'too late' in my mind.

I think Sony should realise that theres ALOT of fans of the PSN in Europe and getting better content on it to fill the extremely gappy PS3 release schedule is a must!

Uncharted, PES 2008, Ratchet etc..demos are needed right now! Not forgetting more advertisement of the upcoming Playstation Eye games and the fact that 'The Eye Of Judgement' is released in approx 14 days with 'booster packs' and 'theme decks'!

    Does anyone know? Probably not...

    Your behind Sony, speed up.

    'Egster'

I have a USA Account, but why should we have to create a account which isn't meant for anyone living outside the US just to get the good stuff?

Why isn't the PES 2008 demo on the PS Store anyway? I mean the 360 and PC demos were out two weeks ago! Are we to take this as sign of either its sub-standard quality (e.g. it's another lacklustre 360 port) or that the game will be delayed several weeks, as is typical of most PS3 games of late? :?
  • mcwildcard #11 4 years ago

Well a PES demo is now officially pointless for me, it's 2 weeks until release, and if it's that much effort for them, then I'd rather they were busy making sure the game is released on time than mucking about getting a demo out.
    Still miffed though.

We've had the FIFA 08 demo for a couple of weeks already (at least in the Netherlands). Strange that the PES2008 demo keeps us waiting, but well, the 360 demo was incredibly rough anyway so if they can improve on that a little before giving out the PS3 demo, that'll help their sales a little. I do think though that the whole physics and animation thing in PES is tonnes more convincing. The ball just behaves so much more realistically in that game, and the players react far more dynamically than in FIFA08.

But, my real question is like Mr_Bison's ... where the fuck is Tekken Online? I sooooooooooooooooooooooooo want that. Tonnes more even than Virtua Fighter 5 Online. Screw that stupid localisation thing, I want to be able to get a taster of the English version if I so choose to. It's great to have multi-lingual stuff as an option, but OPTION is the key thing here and if I have to choose between waiting a few weeks (or in Tekken's case months?) and having my native language among the options, then I know what I choose!

Tempted to add credit card details to my US account, but for now I'm holding back ...

PES has been developed on the PC and ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 or so some PES blog says.

Who also said that Sony's been sitting on this Demo for weeks, and can't be arsed clicking the upload button, bunch of tossers.

Ps3 is the leading platform for Pro Evo... the game will be better on the Ps3, no doubt about that..., great games coming in short time "Ratchet, PES08, Drakes etc... i'll be playing and finishing Heavenly Sword again while waiting for them, is such a great game.

Or you can scoot over to the amarican site and dosnload a rather fun slice of Ratchet and Clank.

"I have a USA Account, but why should we have to create a account which isn't meant for anyone living outside the US just to get the good stuff?"

Due to Sony's strict localisation policy. Everything that's available via the regular channel must be localised, otherwise they might receive complaints from confused customers. Given that they haven't taken any action so far against the dummy US and Japan accounts may indicate that they see this as a valid option for the more hardcore gamers to get to the unlocalised stuff.
  • penhalion #17 4 years ago

    @les

No these are just demos that should have world wide releases regardless. Didi you know that in a few years time full OVER 50% of the world will speak english. This kind of makes the localisation excuse a bit rubbish don't you think.
  • Rash' #18 4 years ago

Hey, can someone help with setting up US and JP accounts on EU PS3? I had it all on my day one purchased PS3, but that got stolen and so am now getting round to setting everything up on the new system. Really want to try the Ratchet demo.
  • Rash' #19 4 years ago

penhalion, Just because the they can speak english doesn't mean it's their native tongue. For many it's their second language so rightly they shouldn't be expected to make communication allowances for their entertainment needs.
  • Syrok #20 4 years ago

Most of the demos you can download from the US store already have other languages implemented.
  • captainrentboy #21 4 years ago

Apologie, sometimes you bang on about the 'great upcoming PS3 games' sooo much, that it sounds like you're actually trying to reassure yourself that you've made the right purchase choice rather than others.
Calm down man, we're aware of its upcoming titles, no need to go on about them in every comments section:)
Edit- Infact after reading back your post, I can imagine you continuously muttering most of it to yourself like Dustin Hoffman's Rainman. It's that, and a little Yoda-esque.

"It's worth reporting, but we can leave it out of the weekly run-down, boys! Oh - and don't foget to report it with taglines and structuring that gives the "boo-Sony" effect!"

    This is really getting tiring.
