PS3 starter pack rumours silence Sony
Heavenly Sword and F1 in bundle.
Pictures surfaced today of the box for a new PlayStation 3 starter pack for Europe, with a changed line-up of games, GamesIndustry.biz reports.
The picture suggests that the pack will replace the current included games (Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man) with two other SCEE titles: new release Heavenly Sword, and launch title F1 Championship Edition. As before, it will also include a 60GB PS3 and two Sixaxis controllers.
Sony has so far declined to comment on the authenticity of the image.
The source of the image suggests it will retail later this month, at the same price as the current starter pack: EUR 599 (GBP 425).
The current starter pack was launched in the UK on 18th July and the rest of Europe on 1st August. There has confusion as to whether or not it is a limited offer, but if this image is genuine, it would suggest that Sony intends to continue the promotion.
GamesIndustry.biz has plenty more bundles; those stuffed full of facts from the far reaches of the videogame world.

Oops. Well spotted and pointed out.

Would turn me off. If I could find a Motostorm, Ridge Racer bundle somewhere I may have already ordered one.

No thanks.

If Sony want to do very well this Christmas then a SingStar party bundle with two microphones and the PS3 itself for £349 - don't underestimate the pulling power of SingStar!

Motorstorm and Resistance were solid titles. Heavenly Sword sounds above-average but, regardless of quality, an F1 title is just too niche! I can't bear F1 games... a Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword combo (in spite of the review malaise for the latter) would be more my thing. Those and Little Big Planet are the only PS3 exclusives I fancy getting my grubby mits on.

Go to play, I saw a similar offer.
However I'm not interested in Buying a PS3 for now, they should do a Killzone2 & MetalGearSolid4 pack, when both of them are out. That would sell millions.

Actually, what am I saying? £425 is still too expensive. Get it down to the price of the 360 Elite and they might finally shift a few.

Just lower the price Sony and stop this nonsense, it's beyond a joke.

Singstar has already got reviews out, so if a bundle was made as quickly as with heavenly sword, then i'm sure an xmas singstar bundle could be possible.

Heavenly swords a good one, but to pair it with F1 come on if the roster was updated to this season it would make more sense but it doesn't.

All the pic could suggest is that they are adding Heavnly sword as one of the choices!!
Really don't get where they got the idea of "replace the current bundle of Motorstorm & RFOM" from!

...or just burn the money instead, I'd get more fun out of doing that.
PS - Why's everyone going on about Singstar? it's a karaoke game ffs!

I can't speak for everyone, but for me - it's not that I'm not interested in the PS3; I certainly want one but I just refuse to spend £400 on it. I'm waiting for Sony to drop the price to a level that represents realy value for money versus, say, the Xbox 360 Elite but so far they've resolutely refused to do so. "Value" packs containing minority-interest games like F1 are completely the wrong way to go to increase sales. If/when this is actually launched, I can't see it making any difference tbh.
Nintendo on the other hand had the good foresight to bundle Wii Sports - arguably the console's killer app - with their machine. Do you think if they'd stuck Wii Play in there instead, people would be buying it as much as they are?

I agree... to "niche" for most casual gamers. But F1 is still a great game IMO... just not very "next-gen" or representing what the PS3 is capable of by far.

Apparently, Sony feels that we Greeks have even more money to burn...

I am looking forward to the play tv thing coming out (perhaps that could be a bundle too with no money off!), but at the moment I am more on my xbox 360 than my ps3....
I am sure this will change in a year or two as sony (and developers) get to grips with the ps3... Just feels like I got the ps3 a bit too early still (and this is a year after release!) and shoddy offers like these highlight the distinct lack of games there are (and how many exclusives they have lost)
