PS3 snares Penny Arcade Adventures

Gabe and Tycho arriving in late autumn.

Hothead Games has announced a PlayStation 3 version of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

Late autumn is the target, and for a price similar to the previously-released PC and Xbox 360. The latter costs 1600 Microsoft Points (GBP 13.60 / EUR 19.20) on Xbox Live Arcade.

That turned out to be rather a lot for the quirky role-playing adventure, which had all the personality of Penny Arcade but flunky mechanics underneath.

Rain-Slick is set in a deranged 1920s horror-cum-comic world and presented as if lifted from the web cartoon.

Great news seeing the original was so well received.

I would've preferred to have just sat and watched the story... The game part was RPG-by-numbers which unfortunately I couldn't work through :(

I like their art style enough, but I've never seen anything in this project, apart from the "rpg-by-numbers" impression media of it leaves (agree with Lazy, on that). Perhaps, with a demo, I'll give the game a try.

Got this on 360. Wish I hadn't. It's way too short for the price and the difficulty is all over the shop. It also relies on a counter system that can make the difference between winning a battle and being royally trounced. If you really love penny arcade, then this is for you, otherwise I'd give it a wide berth unless the priice is halved.

Kind of disappointed this is coming to the PS3 since the game is shit from all accounts. Much prefer Sony stick to quirky interesting stuff like Eden and Fat Princess.

I've already heard before that the XBL version was shit, so I can't really say this interests me much. Oh well.
