PS3 manual mentions rumble
NBA 2K7 cocks up copy.
Whoopsy daisy. Looks like somebody didn't tell 2K Sports about the PlayStation 3's loss of vibration until too late. Either that or one of the copy writers was having a bad day, because a poster on the official PlayStation message boards has unearthed a page of NBA 2K7's PS3 manual that highlights its support for, er, pad vibration.
Scanned and posted on gaming blogs, the page in question refers to the "24/7: NEXT" mode and says, "Once you start feeling your heart rate pumping (via controller vibration), you'll be ready to begin!" The very next sentence makes mention of the tilt functionality, which seems to rule out the possibility that it was simply a copy-and-paste from the Xbox 360 manual that slipped through undetected.
Whatever the truth, Sony's decision to do away with rumble in favour of motion-sensing has been widely criticised since its announcement at E3 last May, although senior executives including Kaz Hirai and Phil Harrison have defended the choices made.

Oh well, it happends. I remember that the test versions of Quake 3 contained different graphics for the plasmagun and railgun which were changed shortly before release. The instruction booklet that comes with Quake 3 still shows the old graphics.

I don't see what your love of wearing womens' underwear has to do with this article?
Anyway, I do find myself wondering if rumble support is still in the PS3 dev libraries so that it can be built into games "just in case" it ever finds its way back into the pad. Anyone on the inside care to spill that particular can of worms?

Aha! As I suspected, but could never get anyone to admit. Cheers, Piro - I hope they don't kill you for telling us that. ^_^

If I ever get a PS3 I might have one o' those so that I can have rumble on me old PS2 games, then.

As a form of feedback, I eventually found it pretty pointless (after the initial "wow" when it was first implemented, that is); I've never seen an example where it really represents what's going on in the game ("I've been hit! - Spasm, time!"
When I replaced my GC controllers with Wavebirds, I didn't even notice rumble was missing for ages - and I don't miss it.
Just my coppers.

Runble makes a huge difference in certain games and the absence of the rumble feature was a massive mistake as it only takes away from the gaming experience, i thought next gen was about taking steps forward not backwards.
I was playing GranTurismo 2 on my PSP and realised that doing the licence tests with no rumble function just is not as enjoyable or engrossing as with the rumble feature - you never really know when you are too close to the rumble strips or the edge of the track so it really takes away alot from the immersion of the gaming experience.

I wouldn't rule out Sony releasing a controller with rumble later either.
