PS3 Lost Planet gets exclusive character News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

15 January, 2008

Capcom has confirmed to Eurogamer that Lost Planet on PS3 will feature Luka as an exclusive playable character.

She is a snow pirate that original and moody protagonist Wayne bumps into. Both have very nice hair; living in a frozen and hostile wasteland must be easier than it looks.

Also in the PS3 version are all the maps and patches accrued by the 360 version in its two years on sale, 16-player PSN battles, plus all the new characters introduced by the recent PC offering.

Otherwise little else has changed, and Capcom Japan appears to be taking its time on the port.

Lost Planet arrived in early 2006 on 360 and scored an admirable 7/10, a number that tumbled down to 5 for the later PC offering.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be out on PS3 on 29th February.

Pop over to our Lost Planet gamepage for some still and moving pictures to point at.

The story for lost planet really kills any urge to re-play it.

You end up loosing all your memories AGAIN right after the final hell for leather battle

That alone would have made me give this game a 5. Graphics really are only half the game!

I am no "plant" but this is shaping up to be an enjoyable arcade-ish shooter... yes, it's (too) late but I have a soft spot for things like this (hello, Dino Crisis...) and all (almost) things Capcom...

cheers...

I quite liked this on 360. Sounds like this could be a proper port for once. Still, bit old.

It's now almost a year since the release of the 360 version, isn't it?

It's an alright game, very different from most other action shooters I might add. I do know some people hated the controls and aiming. The story was terrible (the only character I liked was that crazy guy in the purple suit).

Was it released before Fight Night , GRAW, Oblivion, Burnout Revenge? That would almost make it as old as PD0. Nope it's a mere year old.

I rather liked Lost Planet. Didn't play it through twice and didn't really play it online (which I understand is ace), but it was fun for the most part. Easily worth a rental at least.

Is she the one that has cleavage on display despite living in a frozen wasteland?

blimey it was bad enough stranglehold was delayed by about three months, but near two years later, I hope capcom are not really expecting PS3 owners to shell out £50 for a two year old game....

Was a great looking game (back then) and I liked the shooting mechanics... but the story (wtf?) and the random difficulty level annoyed the crap out of me.

Yes, although admittedly only when she's indoors. But this is a video game, after all.

Lost Planet didn“t come out early 2006, it came out early 2007. That is all.

I just hope that they are doing a good job porting this one. The last thing the PS3 needs is another half-baked port.

Actually this game is pretty good. Really arcade-ish and old school kind of feel to him which made him extremely fun to play. Yeah, the story wasn't going to win any awards but nonetheless one of the better/solid games for the 360 at least. Obviously I don't know how the Ps3 version will play out considering how the Pc version seemed to have failed. But definitely something people should check out.

id be curious to see if anyone was still playing this online, i got rid of it ages ago..and the multiplayer was horribly laggy i found it impossible to kill anyone online in this game..i would just shoot endlessly and then a bunch of people would pop out of literally nowhere and shoot me in one bullet...just really un-fun multiplayer..as for the single player i enjoyed it.... i think... i cant actually remember i remember

* an awesome fight against a snow worm

* stuff exploded

* more stuff exploded

* bad acting

i know i had more fun with it before i sold it but its a seriously forgetable game... i dont think this is what the ps3 needs

Capcom would surely have been better releasing Lost Planet 2 on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 rather than releasing such an old-and-really-not-that-great-anyway game on the PS3.

Lost Planet is a great game. The multiplayer is awesome. Its not even a year old yet though. I dont get why Eurogamer think its 2 years old. that would have made it one of the first games to be released on the 360 after the launch. Totally wrong.

Can't imagine anyone is waiting for this game on PS3 TBH. At launch maybe but it's too poor a game to compete now. The only good thing is that Capcom gets some experience on PS3 which will probably mean the PS3 version of part 2 is actually decent...
