PS3 Just Cause 2 to have extra feature News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

16 November, 2009

Eidos has confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS3 version of Just Cause 2 will have extra video recording features.

The game will be able to automatically record 30 second clips or store manually filmed videos up-to 10 minutes long. Those stored videos can then be uploaded to YouTube to share with the world - an ability that continues to produce unlikely stars.

Just Cause 2 will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 early next year. We wrapped our dexterous mitts around a pad last week for a playthrough. Pop over to our hands-on impressions for a full brain-pour.

Yes, it sounds great on the face of things but I've used that about 0% so far in Uncharted.

Surely it's a given that the PC version will also have this seeing how it's even easier to implement on the system that has tools for watching and editing videos?

Because MS is a bit a controll freak and they're not really best buddies with youtube hence they are developing their own system.

This was introduced to developers last year along with in game screenshots but so far very few devs are implementing it. Main reason for this is that most PS3 games are lazily ported from the 360 and tagging on additional features to take advantage of the PS3 is difficult when running what is essentially modified 360 code.

Don't confuse this with the automatic recordings offered by Halo 3 and Uncharted 2, this is more like the video capture and upload offered by Tom Clancy's HAWX, in fact it's pretty much the same.

Like Miguell said its been said that MS will give you the possibility to capture from every game videos through the console itself's options and you wont be in the need to do so from the game.

As about sharing them.. I do home MS will make it capable to share only through their services. I think way more spossible for everyone in XBL to be more interested into checking and sharing videos than poluting Youtube with millions of videos from all the 360 users ( im one of them but I dont think ill ever even use it. I have better things to do personally as priorities than share gaming vids with no time available. ). it will be best for us to find if looking something 360/game related through a service like that than do what they said about the PS3 version. I dont want to be searching in youtube and finding PS3 user vids nor 360. 100s of results per keyword are enough!

True but be prepaired to be hit low for just mentioning it. You surely know what I mean. :p

Suddenly choosing which system to buy this for just got a little more difficult. We shall see which version is best.

Still PC version for me, pretty sure I could record hours at a time if I ever wanted to... I just don't want to.

This sequel looks ten times better than the [takes a deep breath] rougher-than-hell and oh-look-at-me-I'm-so-massive-for-the-sake-of-it-and-thus-awf
ully-dull-to-explore original so I'm holding out for the PC version so long as it isn't another lazy, gimped "port" with minimal graphics options beyond choosing a resolution like Bionic Commando and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed are.

There were murmerings of Live supporting this for every title recently, maybe that's why this is 'ps3 exclusive'.

So why would they create something on the 360 when it'll be superseded by the infrastructure. Probably didn't spend more time on the 360 version though, using the resources to pimp out the ps3 code to compete.
