PS3 Gran Turismo bundle coming
Towards the end of next month.
A Sony spokesperson has confirmed to Eurogamer there are plans to launch a new Gran Turismo 5 Prologue bundle next month.
News of the bundle first emerged on French website Game-Class. They reckon EUR 399 will get you a 40GB PlayStation 3 and copy of GT5 Prologue, and suggest a release date of March 29th.
Sony declined to confirm a price or lock down a release date. However, a spokesperson did tell us, "We are targeting an end of March release for GT5 Prologue - standalone, PlayStation Network and bundle."
This isn't the first time they've mentioned late March in the context of GT5 Prologue - but it is the first we've heard of a tied-in hardware bundle.
Game-Class also reckons there's a movie bundle coming, which also includes a 40GB console and costs EUR 399. It's said to come with Blu-ray versions of Spider-Man 3, Casino Royale and 300.
Sony has yet to confirm the report. The spokesperson simply stated, "I don't have any details on the movie bundle I'm afraid." He didn't say "There isn't one" though...

Also - what's that in proper money none of this euro shit.
You can get a 40gb PS3 on amazon right now + hdmi cable + burnout paradise for £299, which leaves 1 shiny penny from £300 that you can use to wedge under the ram chips on your broken 360.

I think play's upcomming ps340gb+nija gaiden+drakes fortune bundle @ £299 is going to be more value, then pick up GT5 prologue for the cheaper price.
unless of course the GT5 pack has dual shock 3 as standard (which it doesn't look like) in which case it's a smart buy (if you want a ps3)

So, the US get the über-bundle, containing this:
"The Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle will go on sale in the US in late Q2. It will contain the game, an 80GB PlayStation 3 and DualShock 3 controller. The bundle will cost USD 499."
Translated to real money, 500 USD is about 330 Euro.
And we get a bundle containing HALF the hard disc capacity, NO PS2 backwards compatibility (which wikipedia claims the US 80 GB has), an obsolete sixaxis (no shock) and fuuuu.... damn, but I try to restrain myself, but this time I actually have to use the F-word, pardon my french: .... and a fucking DEMO?!
At 399 Euros - 70 Euros MORE than the US überbundle?
Now - I love my PS3 and all, but that is no way to do business, Sony. Get your act together. That's not a bundle, is an insult.

The continued lack of a backwards compatible alternative to the 40GB model is probably the main reason I'm not even thinking of buying a PS3 right now. And, of course, the continued delay in launching the Dualshock 3 over here (and bundling it with new PS3s) is just another reason why I'm inclined to wait.
Personally, I don't give a toss how big the HDD is - I just want to know that if I'm spending £300, I'm getting a PS3 that is something approaching the definitive version. Unfortunately, Sony have never actually launched the definitive version (i.e. the US and Japan's 60GB model with full hardware PS2 BC) in Europe, so I'm probably destined to be a bit disappointed, but for those of us who dared to dream that the announcement of the 80GB MGS4 bundle in the US would be a precursor to something equally good in Euroland, this thing is a bit of a kick in the gonads.

Proper BC, 80Gb, DS3 or no sale. No rush, no temptation whatsoever.
...until God Of War 3 / Shadow/ICO 3 comes in 2 years.

Your getting warm Sony, but not warm enough.
