PS3 Buzz patched with Trophies

We've been reliably informed that PS3 quiz title Buzz! Quiz TV has been patched to include Trophies.

The latest in the long line of trivia-testing successes, Buzz! Quiz TV is only the second Blu-ray game to get the Trophy facelift after Nathan Drake's tropical adventures in Uncharted pipped it to the virtual post.

Anyone firing up their copy of Buzz today should receive a prompt for an update which will install the patch. It's not known whether this will function retroactively or if you'll need to relive your finest moments in order to secure your prizes.

Anyway, the Trophies you can compete for are:

Bronze

  • Sofa Subjugator Bronze: Win 5 Sofa vs Sofa games
  • The Barnard Award Bronze: Score over 1500 points in Single player
  • Lonesome and Loving it Bronze: Play 5 single player games
  • MyBuzz Enthusiast Bronze: Play 1 MyBuzz game
  • Sofa Surfer Bronze: Play 1 Sofa vs Sofa game
  • Socialite Bronze: Play 5 Multiplayer games

Silver

  • Sofa Subjugator Silver: Win 20 Sofa vs Sofa games
  • The Barnard Award Silver: Score over 3000 points on single player
  • Lonesome and Loving it Silver: Play 20 single player games
  • MyBuzz Enthusiast Silver: Play 20 MyBuzz games
  • Sofa Surfer Silver: Play 15 Sofa vs Sofa games
  • Socialite Silver: Play 20 multiplayer games

Gold

  • Sofa Subjugator Gold: Win 50 sofa vs sofa games
  • The Barnard Award Gold: Score 5000 points in single player
  • Lonesome and Loving it Gold: Play 50 single player games
  • MyBuzz Enthusiast Gold: Play 50 MyBuzz games
  • Sofa Surfer Gold: Play 40 Sofa vs Sofa games
  • Socialite Gold: Play 50 multiplayer games

Reportedly there'll also be a total of six hidden Trophies, possibly for making your mother cry by viciously riffing on her lack of knowledge on current pop culture and making her feel old.

There's also a platinum Trophy stashed away for those uber-completists who manage to install every other Trophy on their mantlepieces. Dorks.

    Hmmm, Buzz! Quiz TV needs a patch to fix other more obvious shortcomings like the lack of options and variety in both the offline and online modes IMO but I suppose there will be some for whom the Trophies are a greater priority I'm sure. Does anyone know if this patch makes any changes to the gameplay itself?

    Some gameplay changes as regards number of players in certain rounds.

    Hmph, we've been waiting so long for this patch which was supposed to make gameplay changes that I fear by the time the game is as it should have been in the first place I'll either have ran out of questions or grown bored of the game entirely. Typical that the developers have prioritised Trophies over gameplay improvements!

    No, they are not retroactive, which is a bummer. I'd have at least the silver multiplayer one by now...

    EDIT: Also, my profile card thingy doesn't seem to update after I've earned trophies. The 'Trophy Collection' does, but my profile will not go up from my previous trophy total of 10. I WANNA BE LEVEL 2!!!

    @ afgavinstan - if you compare trophies against someone on your friends list it should come up with a progress bar say sychronising trophy information. After that has finished your profile card thing should display the correct information.

    @myiagros: Here's what I've done. Right now, no one on my friends list who has Buzz is online. So I compared with someone who's online, yet doesn't have Buzz. After the synchronization, it shows the list of games we can compare trophies in. He's currently trophy hunting in Uncharted, and I don't own Uncharted (yet). The list of games shown includes Uncharted, yet Buzz won't show up..

    If I don't own Uncharted, yet I can choose it in the list, why can't I see Buzz, if he doesn't own it?

    I think there may be a problem with the patch. There's similar stories on the EU Sony Buzz Community Forums...

    Weird...

    So if they are not retrospective do you have to delete save file and start again?...... or does it just start at zero when you update... for example if you need to play 50 online games and you have played 10 does it not see them so in effect you would get the trophy at 60?

    Just had another look on the Buzz Forums, and 'Dan', a member of the Relentless team has said it's probably down to Sony's servers, and that Uncharted and SSHD had similar problems soon after patching, which sorted themselves out.

    I'll relax now...

    I'm not sure platinum trophies is a good idea. Very few people, even those that love a particular game, will manage to get all of the other trophies or even have the time required to try. At least with achievements, you don't miss one simply because you couldn't manage to get all the others.

    On an annoying note, looks like I need to play some sofa vs sofa.

    Honesty? What's more honest than the devs saying that any gameplay changes wouldn't be in the first patch.
