PS Move Japanese launch line-up

Sports Champions! Time Crisis! Resi 5! Etc!

Sony has announced the Japanese PlayStation Move launch line-up.

Move is released in Japan on 21st October (15th September in Europe) and will be escorted to market by six games and a patch for Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition.

According to the announcement on Sony's Japanese site (translated by Andriasang), the launch games are EyePet, Sports Champions, Beat Sketch (formerly Sing and Draw), High Velocity Bowling, Kung Fu Rider and Big 3 Gun Shooting (a compilation of Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Time Crisis 4 and Dead Storm Pirates).

A free patch for Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be released to existing owners in mid-September, presumably to coincide with US and European Move releases, so Japanese gamers will also be able to play that.

In November Sony Japan plans to release a Move version of echochrome, plus The Fight (called Nikudan in Japan) and Move Party, while TV Super Star follows in December and Ape Escape is due out at some point before the end of the year.

2011 Move titles already confirmed for Japan include Harry Po-- I mean Sorcery, Tower, The Shoot and Heroes on the Move, which features characters from the likes of Jak & Daxter and other Sony mainstays.

Killzone 3 will also launch with Move support, while Hustle Kings and Heavy Rain will receive support through patches, which so far lack release dates.

As in Europe, Sony Japan is flogging PlayStation Move in a variety of bundles and configurations, allowing consumers to pick up the wand itself, the Navigation Controller (don't call it a nunchuk!) and PlayStation Eye separately or together.

Launch bundles will include a Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition one that comes with Move and PS Eye, and a Big 3 Gun Shooting pack that includes the game, Move and the bit of plastic that makes it look like a gun (don't call it a Zapper!).

Sony is also doing a disc featuring demos of some of the launch titles, which will be provided free with Move itself, the Move Starter Pack, and both of the above bundles.

We've reached out to Sony to find out about European launch plans.

It has to be said, as underwhelming as that launch line-up looks, those patches for Heavy Rain and Resi 5 Gold Edition are borderline killer apps for Move.

LBP2 with Move support is my primary reason to get a Move controller - it will hopefully make create mode more user friendly :)
  • DonnieDarko333 #3 2 years ago

Heavy Rain patch in 2011 is too late though...in my opinion.

I'm REALLY dissapointed in the amount of titles released with the actual device..i understand Sony want MOVE titles to be staggered..but the best ones aren't out on launch day! TV superstars looks brilliant and completely uses the controller...but isn't out till December etc...

Sports Champions though brilliant..only has 6 games..

Fingers crossed for more titles for Europe.
  • Widge #4 2 years ago

I hope Sports Champions plays more entertainingly than it looks
  • Geordiemp #5 2 years ago

Even though I have 360 version of Res 5, a move version would make it play more like RE4 Wii edition.

All those lovely headshots a breeze. mm.

Pleasse bring out a RE4 Move edition in HD, please, please. Also a star wars light saber game. Then Im happy.
  • Doctor_What #6 2 years ago

They can count me as sold with the Big 3 Gun Shooting pack. I've been craving a decent Time Crisis ever since I bought a LCD TV. House Of The Dead: Overkill on the Wii was a blast, but I'm looking forward to blowing the kneecaps off generic terrorists in HD. Deadstorm Pirates also looks like a good laugh - blowing away zombie pirates and sea monsters? Hell yes!

I'm actually more excited about the Move than I have been for anything gaming-wise for years. That's either a very sad reflection on the industry, or a sad reflection on how jaded I've become!

I want to get move but that release day line up is lame!
  • Arwin #8 2 years ago

I wonder if they don't get more. It's not a lot, but it should ramp up quickly.

Here's what I collected so far that Europe should be getting in terms of Move support, which is quite a bit more impressive:

This is based on another of the tech-demoes, and actually looks pretty good. I particularly like that you can play it in 3D, as this was one game where I thought 3D would be a big help.

Great list there..lets hope Eurogamer can get some official confirmation!
  • Widge #10 2 years ago

I think most hardware launches have pretty cack line ups. Someone mentioned the Gamecube had a solid array, but the likes of PS2 didn't have anything really quite good until GT3.
  • andywilkie35 #11 2 years ago

Completed Resi 5 so many times on 360 (five I think, maybe six now), even though I hate teh wagglez I thought Resi 4 was excellent on the Wii so would be tempted to get Resi 5 on the PS3 for this...
  • Goodfella #12 2 years ago

    @mickey

I have to disagree there. It seems to me MS have gone straight for the casual Nintendo market but they expect them to buy a 360 and Kinect for £300 ish or a Wii for £150, I don't think so. Even for those with a 360 the proposition of paying £130 for Kinect is not a favourable one.

The Move will work out fairly pricey if you get multiple controllers but for most I imagine one set will suffice, and with the ability to patch existing games it seems a lot more attractive than the tat the Kinect is getting at launch.
  • woodnotes #13 2 years ago

The Time Crisis bundle is the only thing that really interests me in that lot - which is a shame considering we've had light-guns since the 80s!

Still hoping that Sony has some awesomeness hidden up their sleeves.
  • Goodfella #14 2 years ago

Again, I beg to differ, price is a huge factor, hence the Wii's massive popularity. A 360 plus Kinect is double the price!

I just don't see people choosing it over a Wii.
  • Nighthawk_08 #15 2 years ago

I personally can't wait for this to come out, not too impressed with the starting line up bar the time crisis game, but like quite a few people have stated already, resi 5 will be so much better with move, I really hope they patch uncharted to it as well, that would awesome. I honestly think in a year from now move will be a success. It doesn't change too much from my dualshock, I can still kick back, SIT down and chill playing a game, but with much more precision and speed with my aiming. Please put this in cod:bo at some point. Any1 else think it's gonna be sweeeet or am I in my own???
  • Mkwone #16 2 years ago

I wouldn't read to much into the japanese launch titles in terms of what the EU will be getting.

LBP2 is a game i'm rearlly looking forward to trying it with, although not for creating with it for 2 reason, MM have said that at launch the game will only support gameplay, and not create mode with a patch after release and secondly i don't think i'll be able to draw with it as well as a dualshock, mind you i could never write on a blackboard with chalk.

I'd love to try R.U.S.E as well, simply as it coudl pave the way for RTS' on consoles (controller set up is still an issue despite some good progression).

In terms of the EU/UK starter pack i'm pretty sure that aside from the camera + Move + demos, we also get full versions of Echochrome 2, Beat the sketer & tumble
  • Widge #17 2 years ago

A PS3 plus all the controllers will also be quite expensive I feel!
  • chrisjm #18 2 years ago

time crisis.... used to love that. if its good it could make it time to get a ps3, presuming they will bundle move with the console later in year.
  • FogHeart #19 2 years ago

    Resi 5 Gold is patched??

And if it's possible to take a third person game and just patch it for Move, then it can be done for a certain...UNlisted....game.

    And a few others!
  • Arwin #20 2 years ago

@Widge: yes, if you get everything, it can get pretty expensive.

However, they made a low barrier of entry, at least. I already have a PS Eye, and with just one Move controller I can play a lot of these games already (including Heavy Rain, Singstar +Dance, Time Crisis, Velocity Bowl, Hustle Kings, EyePet, Start the Party, etc). and using my existing dualshock controller as navigation controller I can already play almost everything out there. If you don't have the PS Eye yet, the starter pack is still only 65 euro here.

Of course it will be nice to have a second Move controller for multiplayer games (Time Crisis, Sports Champions) or for instance for the few games that support two Moves at once (like The Shoot, Sports Champions). But at least you have a chance to test the Move at home for a while first to find out if you like it enough to want a second one for multiplayer, and the same for the navigation controller - at least you can try the dualshock as a navigation controller stand in and find out whether or not you see yourself, say, playing a shooter with the Move enough to feel that a navigation controller is worth it (or even necessary, who knows the dual shock is good enough).

So for me, Move starts out at 45 euros, and I already have and/or will buy plenty of games that will support the Move controller (I already have Eye Pet, Hustle Kings, Velocity Bowling, SingStar, and was already planning to get Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3, for instance). So the cost of entry is very low in that respect.

I'm sure I'll want to get at least a second Move controller though. But hey, I've spent more on these stupid guitar controllers (and drumkit) that only work in a handful of games, and look at the list above - already over 40 titles that support the Move!

Anyway, if they want to compete with the Wii in all areas that it is currently active in including the kids range, then they'll need a Move bundle at 299 ASAP - 399 is what the current bundle was announced for I think? That would be too much. But 299 with Move controllers could do the trick.

  • Ryze #21 2 years ago

I actually can't wait to try this out with Heavy Rain and RE5.

If I enjoy them, then it's almost a dead cert that I'll be getting KZ3.
  • Arwin #22 2 years ago

Hey, I'm thinking if you want the Move and you want Eye Pet, you may be cheaper off getting the current EyePet + PS Eye from Play.com for 36,49 euro: http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4... ... this version of the game is getting a Move patch apparently when the Move comes out, so then all you need is buy the Move controller for 45 euro.

The Move bundle is 65 euro, and the Move version of EyePet currently stands at 45 euro ... That's 110 vs 80 euros in total, so almost 30 euro saved. ;) I don't think the Move starter disc is worth that much, assuming you can download all that's on there from PSN as well (though you never know).
  • Mkwone #23 2 years ago

Over here in the UK eyepet with camera costs £25 odd quid new, even second hand you'll be lucky to get it at £15 and seeing as it's £35 for the move controller it works out as cheap if not cheaper to get the starter bundle which costs £50.
  • Arwin #24 2 years ago

I gave you a link to play.com ... they are U.K. (or more accurately, one of those special tax islands), and they deliver to the U.K. and most of Europe for free. (Just have to give them a few days to deliver sometimes)

More importantly, my point was that the Move bundle gives you the demo disc, whereas the EyePet bundle gives you the EyePet game. If you wanted the EyePet game, then my suggestion gave you a pretty good deal. (If you don't want the EyePet game, then who knows you can sell it)
  • Machiavellian #25 2 years ago

Since I already have the PS3 Eye (thank goodness for Move), I can finally dust off the dame thing and purchase a move controller.
  • geordiek #26 2 years ago

What sold move to me was reading in PSM3 magazine, that a move enabled dead space extraction is going to be bundled with DS2.
  • makeamazing #27 2 years ago

Seems like a good mix of games for all types. Already have a PS Eye due to Eye Pet... which didnt work too well in dark light, but perhaps move will fix that.

Actually didnt buy RE because i hated the controls, the move may convince me to get that game :)

Time Crisis FTW! used to play it in the arcades (i'm old) with a proper gun wonder if they'll have a gun attachment like the wii attachments
