PS Home gets Guitar Hero Backstage

Has mini-game for you and friends.

Activision launches the Backstage with Guitar Hero space for PlayStation Home today.

Visitors can compete in a Guitar Hero-inspired multiplayer mini-game. It uses the PS3 controller's face buttons to reproduce a track played by the AI, but becomes steadily more complex and harder to remember each round.

Eventually, groups of buskers will be whittled down to one winner.

Local leaderboards will sort the wheat from the chaff, and, to mark the launch of the space, PlayStation Home community will compete and hand out prizes every hour tomorrow from 8pm GMT until the early hours of Saturday morning.

There's a video of the Backstage with Guitar Hero space on the US PlayStation blog.

Nice but the actual mini game looks utterly dreadful :D

The scenery looks really nice, but the animation of the AI guitarist is "unusual".

Well said. Boring hearing the same nonsense everyday.

It probably won't have game launching for a while yet, but I hope it will get it sooner rather than later, as that's really useful for a game like Guitar Hero!

I might have to take the plunge and download Home tonight, looks aright for a freebie.

If people stopped visiting Home and it's themed spaces it would die the natural death some people so desperately want.

Enough people seem to enjoy it and use it frequently though, otherwise third parties wouldn't be bothering with creating spaces. I can't see the attraction myself, there just doesn't seem to be much to do which holds any appeal for me personally.

No doubt Microsoft Cottage will be along soon and some people will change their tune. Cottage where true hardcore gamers get their true hardcore cottaging needs taken care of. etc.

Great to see Sony trying something different instead of just ripping off Miis like shitrosoft have done with the turdbox.

Free mini games on a free online sevice is nothing to get angry about.
If the games only entertain you a short while, how is that a failure?.Home is for me a place for mini distractions
and i don't expect anything more than that.

Oh, and may I suggest you wear a helmet, as your journey to sink to the nether regions of gaming culture could be perilous..

I swear Fart used have friends or some allies on here. Eevn the most hardened 360 fanboy must see how dumb he sounds in all of his posts?

Good luck to you Fart tho....a broken record you are but a entertaining one none the less.
  • Goodfella #19 3 years ago

Give it a rest farticus you boring, predictable fuckwit.
  • maximusfarticus #20 3 years ago

    @Farti

I was actually stupid enough to buy a 360 at one point as well. Luckily I realised what a useless, one trick pony of a console it was and sold it on ebay.

Now, and this is a true story, I got £220 quid for the console, a copy of PES, and an additional controller. I put that towards my PS3, a decision I have never regretted.

However, I got an email from the sucker who bought the xbox from me on ebay about two months later asking if I still had the receipt as, surprise surprise, it had stopped working, pmsl. So yeah, I used to be a dumb cunt believing the hype and buying shoddy fucked up excuses for game consoles.

    But not any more. :-)

    You boys!
    What would your mother's say?

I only wish this was one of those occasions that you see on TV, where people are being horrible and rude to each other then they'll both be silent, make eye contact, then burst out laughing and pat each other on the back. Much like the two Lucille's on Arrested Development.

    Ahhh... if only....

Shhhhhhh! If microsoft find out he's gay they'll ban him.

Jumping straight from the XMB into this area would be a good idea if it launched quickly.

Then if multiplayer games could be launched directly with people met in the space - that'd be excellent.

It'd be nice to be able to get a quick idea of the skill level of people you meet in the space, though. Hopefully home already has the facility to check this quickly.

Then, if the space is made more interesting - with music videos and info on game features showing on big screens, plus the opportunity to jump straight to an online store to buy a song seen on the screens.

Sounds like a decent concept - if it works properly.
