Really enjoyed inFamous, but this sounds a bit too hit and miss and revelling in the darkness to be quite the "trilogy" the developer seems to think they have on their hands..
budget purchase at best me thinks. |

This pretty much mirrors IGN's review which managed to scrape only half a point higher.

I have veeeery little patience with games nowadays, so the fact that this title sounds quite cheap in places has put me off big style. I think it's now dropped to a 'Try before I buy' purchase.
Shame as I was really looking forward to it. |

I was expecting a 7. I have enough games at the moment so i think i skip this. Dont spend as much time playing games during summer anyway.

Hmm... Was looking forward to this but the review points out a lot of things that really irritate me. Think I'll hold out for a bit seeing as my 360 has only just been sent off for repair and I've got an unplayed Red Faction sitting around.

This game is to me just a reskinned version of that Hulk Game from a couple of years ago , it has very little in common with inFamous or Crackdown which are both infinitely better games than this generic activision gunk. The graphics are also atrocious. What a let down. It just seems so generic and soulless and so like that average movie tie in hulk game after being immersed in inFamous for two weeks!

When a review embargo is set after the games release ( US release date 9/6 embargo 10/6) it usually means the game doesnt live up to peoples expecations. I think many people expected to much. Its a good game but nothing special.

Sadly, I've been waiting for this game for so long.. I got nothing interesting to buy for the 360, nor for the PC right now and I was expecting somenthing more for the early previews.. Oh well 60 more euros to spend elsewhere..

Having come straight from inFamous Tom Bramwell should have the lowdown on the comparable qualities of both titles.
@UKGN_Zoidberg "from what I've played so far..." which obviously can't be that much since you charge your jumps by keeping the button pressed...

I played and finished Infamous last week so I guess I'll give this a go. Strangely enough I would like to see a 360/PS3 comparison please.
I normally hate them but, since my PS3 is now sporting some quality titles like Infamous and drakes 1 and 2 I'm suddenly interested in which version to get for which platform. |

The draw distance looked fine in the PC verson I was watching a live stream of earlier. It showed someone leaping up the Empire State Building and blue orbs were visible from a decent distance away. I presume the PC version's graphics options allows for a longer draw distance than the consoles? It's the version I've ordered anyway, it's only £25 on Gameplay. I know, I know I said I wasn't going to buy this after buying the very similar inFamous but this game just looks too much fun to ignore and the price of the PC version made it far too tempting... bugger, I'm so, so weak... |

Eh? That's the most bizarre review score considering the content of the review. Probs didn't want a PS3 fanboy flame war over giving inFamous a 7. Ah well, going off just the review, I'd say this is a purchase for me.

I'm liking the sound of Prototype an awful lot, especially the absorbing of people and finding out the backstory, and sneaking into military bases sounds like great fun.
Hulk was a completely brilliant game combat-wise, so the fighting pedigree is there. It does sound a little to me like the reviewer marked the game down for not being very good at the combat, or maybe missing a trick which made the number of enemies a little less overwhelming. At least there are a lot of options for approaching a battle and for me that's one of the most important aspects of sandbox gaming. Metacritic has an 87% average. The Hulk pedigree combined with that score equals auto purchase for me. |

This sounds pretty much like everything I would hate in such a game - horrible style, no character, useless mission objectives, ridiculously OTT action, cheap enemies and excessive gore. I think I'll pass.
inFamous is hardly perfect, but I've really been enjoying it - the cast & script is pretty awful and the city lacks distinction or character, but other than that I think Sucker Punch did a great job. |

So far metacritic has Infamous at 85% and Prototype at 87% so yes, currently it's on average considered better than Infamous. |

My review will be up by Friday but seeing as I've only had it for 2 hours so far it would be unfair to post it until I've playtested it properly. Anyone who has played Crackdown knows that a small tap of the jump button yields a smaller jump whereas holding it down makes you jump to the maximum height. Doing it Prototype's way makes you have to think a split second quicker in order to jump out of the way of things which can mean the difference between annoying death and triumphant victory. |

But the greater shame is it never accounts for the fact that your primary source of health is eating civilians, who you also run over in tanks, and murder by running through them with your shield out or armour on. It's not really collateral damage: you're on a self-serving quest to find out where you came from, and nobody's getting in the way, even if they're terrified and clearly not infected.
This sounds really dumb and reminds me of the problem I have with GTA as well. I have a mean streak but am still not psychopathic (or fifteen year old automutilating emo) enough to find any real intrinsic motivation to do any of this stuff. To me the logical thing would be to kill yourself outright and make the game world a better place. This kind of morality would need some very strong incentive, or over the top campiness. If there's neither, well, count me out. |

Im gagging to get this but im abit turned off by respawning enemies and cheap deaths due to piss poor mission design.
Red faction had me nearly kicking my 360 the other night due to fucking insane amounts of enemy spawning, which to me is just a lazy shit way of trying to make a game challenging minus any actual creative game design. But running up buildings and punching people through the head is just to appealing to pass up. |

im really hating inFamous (the underground water bits mostly but also how quickly you get killed even with reduced damage x3 and playing on EASY) at the moment - i was hoping this would be better :( REALLY?? i went through this on hard on my first playthrough and only got stuck on the final boss, i didnt feel the game was hard at all. Perhaps you are playing it with the wrong strategy? I usually find its easier to complete a mission by taking out the guys on the rooftops first and then wading in to the mobs below with a giant thunder punch :P |
