This looks really interesting, but I agree with the end points of this. Are they not showing them off because they're bad? Let's hope not.

Lol, I was reading... Spotted the reference to Friends and Sex and The City, and instinctively asked myself whether it was an Ellie article!

Ah stereotypes :)

I think it's become a bit of a given that plot is the first thing to die in these games, so fingers crossed the controls felt intuitive enough and the attacks meaty enough for this to be a definite buy.

It''s looking like this has the best bits of Crackdown and Just Cause combined. Fingers crossed on this one.

"There's no fear of suddenly plummeting back down at any given moment because you've run out of steam, or hit a curved surface, or come up against the wrong kind of window."

I'm just a bit worried that this control scheme is sounding a bit like the new PoP. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it felt like you were more like a passive observer than an active player when you didn't have to worry about getting any timing right.

Hopefully this won't be the case.

if you've played hulk: ultimate destruction i think you'll know what to expect. every video i've seen gives the impression that this is simply hulk with better graphics and loads of blood. i'm happy with that because hulk was a riot.

it's nothing like prince of persia. you don't fear falling because mercer will be able to cling onto any surface, not just certain ones. besides, you just smash into the ground when you do fall anyway.

Sounds like fun if they include an unlockable sandbox mode, rack up as many messed up kills as possible and the like. Trying to shoehorn a plot into games like this can be a turn off.

I agree, it does sound like hulk ultimate destruction, which is no bad thing. I might go as far to say that its a good thing.... I think I will.
Its a good thing
Look slike it could be a good game, as long as they dont screw up like a lot of the spiderman games do and actually give you lots of interesting side quests. The taking over peoples body thing, is also something i hope is exploited properly and isn't just used during missions. Perhaps you could take over the body of a young boy whose father was mudered by men in black cars and solve the mystery through a combination of martial arts, fork lift truck driving and caring for a kitten...... No wait.....

Either way, looking forward to this.

The overall tone of this article is very downbeat about this game. It seems nothing has impressed the writer enough to get them excited. Reading between the lines it seems like quite a harsh preview. Kinda gives you the feeling after reading this that the finished game might not be all it's cracked up to be.

1up were slating this demo session last week because it was so restrictive - the poweres on show were handed out one at a time and there was no sesne of playing the actual game, just a series of specific test cases for each power/ability.

If the lead character is so powerful, where does the challenge come from?

Reading between the lines, that you discovered by reading between the lines. The only thing missing here is a crystal ball and a frog ;)

I recall seeing a developer diary about this a while back, and it made for painful watching. Not because the game content looked bad, but because it was just full of devs pretending they were rockstars and so on (uttering nonsense such as "When you put a mind like mine in a situation like this, you can ONLY get innovation").

That said, the actual gameplay is what matters and this makes it sound a lot more promising than the dev diary. So hurray.

The very question that often makes designers sigh when confronted with the possibility of working on a Superman game :)

He can be killed. HULK was tougher, and Ultimate Destruction was an awesome game

Based on that games strength alone... this will rock. I mean have you seen the gameplay footage? Looks insane and much more impressive than Imfamous.

this game just seems like a poor man's Infamous. the graphics seem bland and flat. could be wrong but i've not seen anything to suggest otherwise.

Infamous looks decidedly drab and boring compared to Prototype, which would appear to be all kinds of awesome rolled up neatly into the form of a fusion-powered kilometer-long baseball bat, with which you can smack new york upside the head.

I too have the choice. However, as every PS3 game I played so far has been a huge let-down I can't really see Infamous wowing me to the point I feel the need to buy a console to play it on.

I've always been a multi console owner. As soon as some worthwhile games are released on the PS3 I'll buy, simple as.

Not the rest of the world, about half the PS3 owning populace which really isnt al ot of people. The game playing half, not the blu-ray player half of course.
