Project Zero 4 for February?

Freaky Wii title goes West.

The newest and fourth instalment in the Fatal Frame (Project Zero) series may be out here on Wii as soon as February.

That's according to Official Nintendo Magazine (spotted by Aussie Nintendo), which aired the first non-Japanese date for the spooky game. We've asked Nintendo for clarification.

Retailer Play suggests a February arrival for Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. And, if the game kept that name, it would be the first time the US title was used for the series in Europe.

Little is known about Fatal Frame IV, released in Japan earlier this summer. In fact, all we've seen so far is a freaky trailer featuring the paparazzi heroine wandering alone through haunted houses and bumping into some supernatural surprises.

Pop over to Eurogamer TV for a look.

    Woohoo!

They must have sorted out who's publishing this thing, Nintendo or whoever else (confused Reggie the Arsehole no end, poor Reggie)

Good Game Coming To Wii Shocker. Hooray!

With the possible exception of Mad World (which I'll only get if there is literally nothing else to play) this is the only game I was/am looking forward to. I love a good scary game and there hasn't been a decent one in ages (Dead Space was good, but not bona-fide scary).

Admittedly I've still got to finish the first game and play 2 & 3...

This is the news I've been waiting for...I bought my Wii especially for this game and it's beens such a long time since any news of the game. I almost sold it so thank the moon and the stars I didn't

I love the Project Zero series and I still can't see how it will work on the nintendo but at least I'll get to use my Wii at last.

something appearing on play.com is not news. ever.
they list games based on speculation or announcements for another territory with release dates they pulled out of their collective arse. namco x capcom was on there for ages despite never having been even considered for a european release.

Very true about play they do assign dates speculatively after all, it's not like they have a release date oracle after all. However, the article does cite UK's Official Nintendo Magazine as a source. The ONM article gives an ETA of February, and one would hope that they would know. Mind you, they've got it wrong in the past. :)

    Hoping it's good.

Just started Project Zero 2 (Xbox) a few weeks ago (bought it ages ago, just hadn't got round to playing) and I'm really enjoying it; unlike the old-style Resident Evil games, the gameplay is actually one of the best parts of it and it has a unique style and atmosphere. And is it just me, or are ghost much creepier than slow groaning zombies?

The trailer looks really good! I can't wait for this! I was starting to worry it wouldn't get released over here, so thanks for the news (finally something to look forward to for the Wii).

Need to fire up my PS2 and get on with 3rd one.

Loved the first one so much I bought it on both PS2 and Xbox

Excellent! Mind you, I think I might be too much of a pansy to buy this game!

No guns, no clubs, no magic fireballs...your only defence is a camera for crying out loud. And even then you can't just point and shoot...you play a frightening game of chicken with every ghost. I've never played a game with such a feeling of vulnerability. If you've yet to play a game from this series, prepare for a horror game that really does make the hairs on your neck stand on end.

Wow! As soon as February! Still, at least it didn't take as long as the Trauma Centres! Thanks Nintendo!
  • Malek86 #20 3 years ago

@FogHeart: agree about the previous chapters, but not so much for this one. With the new lock-on feature, and increased power of films, I really didn't feel the urgency anymore. Almost every fight was winnable with ease, unlike before. And you can buy health at save points... detracts a lot from the scaryness factor.

    Bugger :(

Dammit devs! If it ain't broke don't fix it!
  • saku_luk #22 3 years ago

I hate Nintendo for buying off PZ franchise :( so sad I will never play PZ games again, since I refuse to buy Wii for 1 game ~_~ ....arghhh T_T
  • Feanor #23 3 years ago

@ Malek86: Maybe that was just to appease japanese Wii gamers, and the Western version will have the difficulty level increased. Hope so.
  • Malek86 #24 3 years ago

@Feanor: actually, I'm afraid the western version might be even more lenient :p

That, and they should really fix the huge bugs. I sure hope so.

    I adore the Project Zeros.
