Probably no more Rock Band PSP DLC

"Planned slate" is now finished.

MTV Games has said that it has "run through our planned slate of Rock Band Unplugged DLC", meaning there probably won't be any more.

The very enjoyable PSP spin-off to the main Rock Band series has around 100 tracks available across the UMD disc and associated DLC shop.

"Right now, our DLC team is focused on Rock Band Network, weekly console DLC, and unannounced future projects," MTV told GameSpot.

Rock Band Unplugged, developed by Backbone Entertainment and Harmonix, translates the plastic-instrument gameplay of the home console series to Sony's portable by taking a step back towards the genre's origins - and specifically games like FreQuency and Amplitude.

I was surprised they stuck with it this long. Now if they'd only release the full game as a download on PSN. The Starter Pack is an interesting arrangement, but I'd still quite like to have the rest of the tracks on the UMD too. Really enjoyed it.

That's such a shame, I hope they change their mind.

gah! I bought the starter pack with 3 songs in and there aren't enough on PSN to make it a good deal now. I really hope they change their minds.

So in all, how many songs are there?

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit. I got the starter pack too. This is mostly gay.

A hundred songs isn't enough to keep you going for a while? Of course it's a fraction of what's available for Rock Band proper, but it's still loads more than some rhythm action games have come up with in the past. And all for a single player game.

An awful lot of them are shit though...

In other words, they weren't selling well enough to keep licensing them. Shame really, as the game was quite fun.

Since they're the same games as on Rock Band proper it's hard to justify buying them on this rather than the full scale brother. Even though the PSP version is a really fun game it wants its own songs. But then if they can't afford to keep licensing the same songs I guess new ones would be a non-starter.

...as the PSP's online 'service' is non-existent and people don't bother using it online - like the PS2 before it.

Very good game, it made the flights on my last holiday much more enjoyable!

    @Rubarack

That's a fair point too. I enjoyed the game a lot, but I've put all my pocket money into tracks for the full sized Rock Band as I can play those with my band on all of those fake instruments I've been buying for years.

From playing those I also kind of enjoy the progression through a set of songs supplied on a disc, and it also leads to horrors such as The Endless Setlist which I enjoy overcoming.

It is a fun game. It is sad to know that it has to stop. I think they should improve this rather letting it go. But in the sense of business, if it has not revenue well for the past season it has to go to make some space for new games. Business is a business. Senior Healthcare Consultants
