Price for Killzone 2 DLC still TBC

But you will have to pay for it, says Sony.

Sony has confirmed you'll have to cough up some cash for the first batch of Killzone 2 downloadable content.

As reported yesterday, the Steel & Titanium Pack will include two brand new maps.

They won't come for free, though - "You will have to pay for the new maps," a Sony spokesperson told Eurogamer.

So what's the damage? "Pricing is still to be confirmed."

The Steel & Titanium Pack will be released on 30th April.

I won't be paying for it.

I would at the right price.

Anyone fancy a sweepstake? I'm guessing at £3.49 per pack, £6.99 for the pair. And for the record, yes I would.

I'm guessing it'll come in around £3. Which is a fucking ripoff for two maps whichever way you look at it.

This is what annoys me about console fps; no third party maps (which were often way, way better than anything the original devs could come up with) and when additional maps do appear you usually have to pay for them. Which means a good percentage of people never bother, so the maps never end up in any rotations, so you never play them and they end up being a waste of money anyway. Pure. Fucking. Genius. Good work money grabbing fellas!

I don't mind paying for maps that actually get used, like Halo 3 ones. If they're good content, I don't mind.

As long as you don't bump up the price at a later date. Most maps get cheaper, not more expensive. COD4 maps, I'm looking at you.

Why was there any expectation that these maps were going to be free?

    We're not talking TF2 here!
  • makeamazing #7 3 years ago

Suppose if you are a big multiplayer fan you would get them, I on the other hand am not and wont be paying for them. Which is a shame as it might make me go on multiplayer more.
  • rhinoxious #8 3 years ago

I would buy them, but only if they fix the shoddy bloody aiming first!

  • DrDamn #9 3 years ago

The multiplayer maps in general are very well designed so I'll pick these up.

    @phatb0y
The nature of the server set-up should mean they do get included in rotations. If there isn't a server there with the maps you want then you can always start one up too.

The problem I have with the whole issue is that this was the last thing that KZ2 and the PS3 in general needed. Surely with the 360 being THE *fps* shooter platform in terms of hard-corer regular users; being brought up on Halo's, GoW, CoD's etc.. the PS3 should have treated its user-base better and build up a little trust. I buy Halo content because its "Halo" .. and CoD4 content because its the original developers and I love anything they touch. CoD5, KZ2 .. and GoW2 will not see a penny from me; and when the content comes out it will be another reason not to play KZ2 as it splinters its users.. Besides, KZ2 is getting a little boring anyway.

"Besides, KZ2 is getting a little boring anyway."

    Hasnt it always been?
  • patch #12 3 years ago

@muscleblade, surely you're not bored of it already? Hang on, it's not on your game collection list... have you just not listed it or did you get bored of it without owning it?
  • TitusCrow #13 3 years ago

kz2 was a good campaign mode ( would have been better with co- op ) but the multi is a travesty due to dicey decision after dicey decision. I mean no standerdised playlists? you can go onto a server withy a m8 lock it and anything you do there is official for stats? auto aim.. poor aiming etc etc etc..
I wont be getting it and its arse that less than 2 months after release they would expect people to pay for 2 maps - we have the power to end this, any time we want. We just make it obvious to money grabing rumpers that unless value is there in extra content we dont bite! and 2 maps is not value. I think they might have the front to ask 3:49 - 3:99£ if its any more even i will be surprised.
As a soon to be dead boss says in scarface " never underestimate the OTHER guys greed!" - we never should :(

If only it would be updated automatically on EG. Oh wait...

I think we need to put things into perspective here.
First of all I agree that we should never have to pay for DLC like this, it should always be free.
But the people that really want it will pay for it no matter what they charge.

Say for instance it does turn out to be £4 or £6 something, I've spent more than that on junk food in one evening.
I had a pooh later and it was gone. With this you get some extra content for a game you love forever !

"First of all I agree that we should never have to pay for DLC like this, it should always be free.

I'd go further and say that "should" and "shouldn't" have nothing to do with it. If you want the DLC and think the price is ok, buy it. If you don't think the price is ok, don't buy it.

Hence the question "have you just not listed it" rather than me saying "EG updates automatically, which must mean you don't have Killzone2". Perhaps I should have said "someone else chip in with a sarcastic comment, after all, this thread can't get any worse, surely!". In fact, I will say that, as I'm fairly sure you'll respond anyhow.

    @Elysium

Your point is that if you like a game you will pay for the content. Isn't that how all DLC works? Just because you don't like KZ2 doesn't mean this is a bad idea. Lots of people do.
  • bad09 #20 3 years ago

"Actually it's a very fun game. Which you would know if you have played it."

Dunno I played it and agree with Elysium and Muscleblade, I found it a terribly dull game which got traded after a level or two and a quick blast on MP. In fairness though it 's alright, I just didn't find it interesting, exciting or fun myself.

COD4 killed FPS for me though so been like that for most FPS since. IW have to do something pretty special with MW2 to pull me out of this jaded state on FPS's TBH.....
