Portuguese magazine teases inFamous 2

Through staring eyes of Cole McGrath.

PlayStation 3-exclusive inFamous 2 is set to be unveiled shortly, judging by a teaser from the Portuguese Official PlayStation Magazine.

The page advertising the next issue (thanks Scrawl) shows the eyes of the first game's protagonist Cole McGrath above text promising the announcement of "a great PlayStation 3 exclusive" in the forthcoming edition.

Sony has yet to officially confirm inFamous 2, but it has registered the domains and there have been whispers since last year when a voice actor claimed to have auditioned for a part.

The original inFamous was developed by Sly Raccoon studio Sucker Punch and told the story of electrically-superpowered Cole and his good-or-evil approach to sorting things out in the quarantined, post-apocalyptic Empire City.

Whilst I'm looking forward to Infamous 2, I do think Sony is leaving fewer things to excite us at E3. They've already announced Killzone 3 and Little Big Planet 2 as well. Would much rather had these reveals at E3 instead of random announcements a few weeks before the event.

Ahhh really loved the first game, deserved more recognition than it got I reckon (though admitedly it had its share of shortcomings), and had quite the ending. Would love to see a less binary approach to the good/evil thing though.

Last E3, just about everything in the Sony Press Conference leaked in the weeks before. Final Fantasy XIV being a PS3 console exclusive was one of the very few surprises left. This year, a magazine leaked Killzone 3 also, and therefore Sony released the information sooner than planned to all journalists that had been shown it.

There is also the additional complication of showing 3D - very hard to do that in an E3 press-conference setting, and with 3D TVs coming on the market now partly because the soccer season is starting (I saw at least 8 different sets in a store last weekend), it needs to be out there.

Anyway, they probably have so many announcements that it's probably a huge puzzle to decide what to show in the maximum two hours of press-conference, what to show in Europe, what to show at TGS, that they can probably easily afford to show some things early. Besides, with E3 drawing close many people are paying attention, and you have a good audience for your stuff that otherwise might be drowned out in the noise of E3.

(And yes, even big titles run that risk)

Maybe these announcements are just teasers and that Sony really do have some big surprises at E3 that nobody expects or can see coming? Bit far fetched maybe but who knows, only time will tell....

Yes, also felt there weren't enough oomph factor, whether it was the story, presentation, gameplay contents or bit of everything to make it the truly standout game. However it's clearly has the potential and franchise could go further, as in Assassin Creed where developer pulled all stops to ensure sequel surpassed the first one.

Great ending but didn't finish the second playthrough and kept putting it off.

See i dont mind them mentioning stuff that pretty much everyone knows is in development (is it a surprise to anyone?)... what would be nice is if they show off a video or two or some gameplay of the games.... ?

Sony did get a large amount of press coverage for Killzone 3 and LBP2 by releasing the info prior to E3. A lot of that info would have been swamped otherwise. I think it was good planning personally.

So you're not excited about the announcements, just about where they are announced at? If they announced one thing everyday up until e3, by the time e3 had finished you would still have the same amount of anouncements.

If they do the Good/Evil thing again, please god don't tie being good or being evil to the trophiess. I'm sick of games with moral choices forcing you to play through them multiple times just to reach a certain level being good or bad (and in fallout 3's case neutral!).
