PlayStation Move priced and dated

Out in September, 16 launch titles.

Sony has announced that PlayStation Move will go on sale in Europe on 15th September.

As announced at E3, the PS3 motion controller will be sold in a bundle that includes one Move, one PlayStation Eye and a starter disc - and that bundle will cost €59.99.

Move will also be sold separately for €39.99, while the Navigation Controller (originally called the Sub-Controller) will cost €29.99.

The PlayStation Eye itself will cost €29.99.

PlayStation Move will be flanked at launch by 16 titles, with 40 more due to hit in the Christmas period.

First-party Move titles include Sorcery, SingStar Dance, Heroes on the Move (working title), SOCOM 4, Heavy Rain Move Edition, echochrome ii, EyePet, Sports Champions, Tumble and Beat, while third parties are offering up Resident Evil: Gold Edition, Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Toy Story 3 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.

There will also be two other accessories at launch - the shooting attachment and charging station. The former allows you to hold Move horizontally like a gun and will cost €14.99, while the latter is what it sounds like and costs €29.99.

Sony made the announcement at its E3 press conference in Los Angeles today.

    Sensible pricing. Count me in.
  • 52pickup #2 2 years ago

How much is 59 euros? Is that like 50 quid? If so,that's about what I was expecting. Will pick one up.

I'm not into waggle controls but I have to say that sorcery game looked rather fun. The Move is priced very sensibly when compared to the Kinect (Come on Microsoft, the biggest games retailer in the US listed it, it wasn't a typo). If there's more software like this I might just decide to dip in
  • SeesThroughAll #5 2 years ago

The price of a full game: that's a reasonable price indeed.
  • makariel #6 2 years ago

What happened to Sony? Did expect 199.99 € ;-)

Decent price, sounds interesting, if the games make it worthwile count me in.

"Shooting Attachment" crossing fingers for more Virtua Cop!
  • RandomTerrain #8 2 years ago

Actually play Resi with this sound like good fun, and I hear Sorcery looks pretty good too.
Wasn't interested before but now I'm starting to think about it.
  • the_dudefather #9 2 years ago

Will prolly go with 'single controller + existing dual shock' for a while when I want to try it, Sorcery looked good

think I'll put off that heavy rain playthrough for a few months until this is out
  • superted1974 #10 2 years ago

Yes you need 4 of them for 4 player but if MS want to shift Kinetic they surely must come in around the £50 mark and not £100 plus as rumoured.
  • TONYgr #11 2 years ago

    90 euros for the complete experience?I don't know.I guess i'll wait.
And if you want to play the fighting game you need 2 moves,i'm i right?

amazing price really... did not expect that. could pick it up now... O_o
  • feistycheese #13 2 years ago

Good move by Sony on the pricing, and enough launch titles to get me interested.
  • Mkwone #14 2 years ago

It's not a new playstation eye is it? Am i right in thinking it is the same one thats available now.
  • kimchibaka #15 2 years ago

    Decent price, nicely surprised :)

But, Heavy Rain Move Edition? WTF? They're not going to just patch in the controls, you need to buy a whole new version? If that's the case they can expect sales in the tens of thousands...
  • makeamazing #16 2 years ago

I would pick up Resi on the basis of move, really didnt get on with the controls for Res... wasnt convinced by the Golf game to be honest, it was alittle slow to feed back to the screen, but still others seem impressed by it. My kids will like the sorcery game though.
  • makeamazing #17 2 years ago

@Mkwone yes its the same eye toy thats currently available
  • FenderMaster #18 2 years ago

very reasonable price, but none of the games so far interest me. If something does pique my interest, then I won't hesitate to try it at that price.
  • hy4000uk #19 2 years ago

who gives a shit? second rate wii motion+ knockoff for a failing console isn't going to win any awards

and you have to pay 30 quid extra for the nunchuck ON TOP of the dildo. not even sony fanboys are that retarded

    are they?
  • Markitron #20 2 years ago

Fantastic price, that set will be a christmas gift for several friends

  • makeamazing #22 2 years ago

Yes they did mention it but i cannot remember the price..sorry

@hy4000uk - relax dude, your getting all bent out of shape by a controller... also i dont think the controller prices are that different from the Wii are they>?

  • dllord #23 2 years ago

Sold! Must buy at that price for me! MS have some work to do to convince me to buy kintect now!
  • Nuronv #24 2 years ago

Do we have any idea what is on the "starter disc" ? I'm guessing a collection of demos

I already have a Playstation Eye (of judgement) so I only need the Controller itself
  • Miths #25 2 years ago

Sounds like a fair price. That €60 bundle is about the same price as one console game here in Denmark. Though I'm sure I'll want that Navigation Controller as well.
  • Mkwone #26 2 years ago

Is the starter disc sports champions? like the bundle shown at E3. Any confirmation on UK pricing.
  • mooseman721 #27 2 years ago

    time crisis remake please!!!
  • andijames #28 2 years ago

Looks rather good to me! Like the sound of the heavy rain mod as that's one game that will benefit from it i think.

@hy4000uk - loosen up lad it really doesn't cost that much. Anyway it's OPTIONAL meaning you don't have to buy it. It's not like you have to pay £200 for an addon is it.

Worryingly though how many ports will this take up? Presume 1 USB? There's not THAT many on the slim (including the headset plugged into one of them in the cradle there's only one spare).

    Interesting!
  • Mkwone #29 2 years ago

It'll just be the one USB for the camera, the controllers are wirless like the dualshock.
  • Widge #30 2 years ago

hy4000uk, the same one EJECTED from Neogaf recently for being a TUBE?
  • Britesparc Verified Creative, ITV #31 2 years ago

I can't decide if I think it's really cheap or really expensive.

How much will it cost to equip four players with a full set of controllers?

I guess it's not THAT much more than the Wii mind... still, €160 for two players against ~€130 for Kinect is probably the comparison to make (that's the sum I'd have to do, as I'd want the missus included).
  • CaptainKid #32 2 years ago

Why am I the only one who finds this EXTREMELY expensive?
You need an eye, two moves and two navigation controllers if you're being realistic and want to play with a friend.
    So that's €59+€39+€29+€29=near €160!

That's the same as the Kinetic from Microsoft but you can play with more then two people on that thing.
And everybody called the kinetic expensive.. Which it is off course, but cheaper then this at least.
  • makeamazing #33 2 years ago

Guess it depends on the type of games you buy really, i mean i have 3 controllers at the moment, only one rumble, i will probably get a fourth at some point so i can play some 4 player LBP but also a second rumble (while the other is charging)... but ive done this slowly over time.. no point rushing out getting 4 controllers or similar on day 1.
  • Britesparc Verified Creative, ITV #34 2 years ago

It's a bit like when the Wii came out. A full compliment of controllers was more expensive than the console itself...
  • abot #35 2 years ago

Very attractive pricing. MS still has not mentioned their pricing for Kinect. Can we assume its going to be the same price that was was posted then taken off from Gamestop's site. We still don't know the cost of Kinect for Europe.
  • Widge #36 2 years ago

Depends if a full complement of controllers is required really doesn't it. Wii Sports doesn't require anything beyond the original remote, not based on the usage it gets at work. 2 main Move controllers and thats 2 people up and running.
  • malexous #37 2 years ago

I'm surprised that people think this is decent pricing when many called foul at Nintendo.
  • Diomedes #38 2 years ago

Decent pricing ,specially in Europe.I am picking one ,it seems really accurate and will have good support for what we are seeing ..
  • ratso #39 2 years ago

the ps3 pad and be used instead of the nunchuk.. No need for the nunchuk!
  • NotSoSlim #40 2 years ago

A bundle with both pieces, as well as the required PlayStation Eye and a copy of Sports Champions, will be available for $99.99

Thats the press release all sites are stating so if the nunchuk is included its worth it imo but thats just me.

Has anyone here actually read the article? Says quite clearly its 40 by itself, so 2 wands, the eye and game would be 100 Euro. 85 sterling maybe? Most of these games dont use the nunchuck (seems to be a luxury item for harcore games) and all the party games have a 1-wand mode (as seen with the gladiatior and archery game on EGTV the other day) All seems very reasonable to me. I already own 2 games that are receiving patches and im sure im not the only one.
  • Praetorianer #43 2 years ago

I loved how they first announced the price at 49.99$ and everybody was cheering and clapping. Then, the additional Navigation Controller got a price of it's own, as well as the Eye and everybody realized "Hey, I need the complete package for the full experience and it's not so cheap at all!", thus stopped cheering and clapping so loud :-D

Maybe there'll be a cheaper bundle with a sports game, supported by Coca-Cola, as they've been promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for over 120 years!
  • Caimbeul #44 2 years ago

In POUNDS PLEASE! We are not in Europe.
  • albinac #45 2 years ago

i dont have the eye toy so that means that i have to pay a 90 euros for move, eh that will be a no no.that is way too expensive for a controler. they need to bundle this in with something(a game) for that price.
    Edited by albinac at 16/06/10 @ 08:43
  • FireMonkey #46 2 years ago

I'm a little confused. Is the Move controller just one of the wands and the Navigation Controller the other?
If so the pricing isn't actually that good as most things I have been interested actually use both which will add an extra $30 to the price. So that''d be $90. Personally I think that's a bit high for what it is.
  • FireMonkey #47 2 years ago

Thinking about it, that'd also mean if you want 2 players the price hikes up to $160. This could get expensive.

I suppose that's one of the benefits of Kinect (if it actually works), no need for extra kit even if you want more players.
  • Doctor_What #48 2 years ago

Time Crisis on PS3. Sold! There's nothing more soothing than kneecapping terrorists after a day in the office.
  • Mkwone #49 2 years ago

Well to steal the argument MS users have been using for the past 3 years in regard to console priceing (The 360 being more expensive in terms of needing xbox live, bigger HDD, wifi adapter etc to match the PS3- ofcourse with the slim this argument is now dead in the water atlast)

The Move has a cheaper entry point than Natal. The option is there to get move for the price of a game.
  • Murton #50 2 years ago

59 Euro's, even following the crazy exchange rates we see on the PSN would place this at around 50 quid for the full bundle, as I don't own the eye already I can't think of a good reason not to give this one a punt at launch and then expand with more controllers if I like it.
  • DoctorFraud #51 2 years ago

Holy fuck that's expensive! No way in hell I'm shelling out nearly a hundred quid for ONE!!!! controller, especially when there are no good games for it.

    Massive, massive fail.
  • geeza2020 #52 2 years ago

not interested. I have a Wii for motion controls thanks.
  • Beano #53 2 years ago

The pricing is pretty ok I guess... but I can be expensive with games that's best with two Move controllers for each player - Sports Champions for example - where some events like fencing and archery can be played with two. It can be played with one controller though.

Move line up looks far better that Kinect but no killer-app yet or anything that really sets it apart from Wii on the casual side.

  • DoctorFraud #57 2 years ago

    @Widge

One Kinect unit does 4 players (or more, depending on how much skeletal mapping you need).

For the record, I think Kinect is too expensive also and I won't buy until it's around £70 (including a good game).
  • Steroyd #58 2 years ago

I'm surprised and impressed by Sony's take on move.

The main reason why I'm not a fan of the Wii was because when I look at it, I accept that it's not for me, and what few games I would like to play on Wii don't really use the motion control, but they were so damn impressive this year in how they brought back the nostalgia of the titles that made them great in the Nes/Snes era that was once long lost all those years ago, in just one conference, for the first time in 4 years I'm genuinely intrigued in the Wii as a console.

Sony with their Move could have so easily just copy and pasted what the Wii had done for the past 4 years like *cough* Microsoft *cough* and called it a day, but no, move looks like it can appeal to my kind of gameage, Killzone, Socom, Heavy Rain, Resident Evil, Dead Space 2(?), LBP2. This is my kind of language.

The price of the Move minus nunchuck will definitely make me consider trying out move for games I'm going to buy anyway at the least.
  • jonbwfc #59 2 years ago

  • cheekyjay #60 2 years ago

I agree the pricing 'looks' good, but bear in mind that whilst some games will only require one Move per person, other will require a Move and a Navigation per person, and some (dancing games, etc) will require 2 Moves per person. What this equates to is a total cost of around E130 for the 2 Moves, the Eye Camera, 1 Navigation Controller and the bundled game. That's enough kit for one player (or two in a handful of games)... not that far from Kinect's rumoured price-point.

Personally, I am psyched about Move, and think Sony showed this off far more effectively than Microsoft did with the worryingly laggy Kinect... but let's be honest neither will be cheap, at least not at launch.
  • Doctor_What #61 2 years ago

    @jonbwfc: That's fricking awesome. I'm a very happy man :D

    @Caimbeul

Most of us are. This is Eurogamer you know. Britain is in Europe btw. We dont use Euros in Norway either but i dont complain.
  • icematt12 #63 2 years ago

Wasn't a demo disc mentioned during the conference, and that Tiger Woods 11 would be on it? i already have the camera, my guess is that an actual wand should be somewhere between 30 and 40 pounds.

I'm interested in Razing Storm, it's more like Crisis Zone than Time Crisis in the arcade. Although I already have TC4 with a gun, I wonder if that and the DualShock 3 would be compatible to make 3 different types of controller for a game.

On Monday i wondered how scared Sony was of Kinect, now it's how scared Microsoft is of Move. Earlrier launch and cheaper price could make a difference.
  • makeamazing #64 2 years ago

For the record, I think Kinect is too expensive also and I won't buy until it's around £70 (including a good game).

@DoctorFraud - you might be waiting a long time for a good game, unless you are interested in dance/arm flailing or hitting red ball games...

I think its worth a shot at such a cheap price, game and controller, already have a eye toy for the kids eyepet... so its not too expensive for me anyway.
  • telboy007 #65 2 years ago

So we can expect the Kinect pricing (although we really already know) any minute now that Sony have released all the relevant details, surely?
  • CaptainKid #66 2 years ago

    @Caimbeul.
Yeah! That's why it's called EUROgamer, because it's a British site!
  • Dizzy #67 2 years ago

Nice... About 200 euro for a decent setup. Fail.
  • MrChallacombe #68 2 years ago

    really good pricing?
if i want two controllers with sub controllers thats gonna be about £100. how is that good?
  • Vyggo #69 2 years ago

I really don't get people that feel the Move is cheap, and the Kinect thing is expensive... You are going to play flailing arms games alone?

Aah well, we don't know how much Kinect is going to cost anyway, but the $150 seems viable.
  • jjolley #70 2 years ago

Call me completely insane but i've just ordered 4 moves and a couple of subcontrollers for £181.70 from amazon.co.uk. As someone who can't see, I think the move has potential to give gaming a new edge for me personally. My partner will also use it with Eyepet and so on, so it's going to be a fun time I think.
  • holloguts #71 2 years ago

Seems cheap enough. No official price yet on Kinect so can't compare value between them,. One thing I noticed. Sony had a boxing game with the player using TWO of the the move controllers (one for each hand). Looked good. Total cost £160.

Not looking like good value there. Want split screen with your mate, no problem another two move controllers and another £120 quid. Hold on, this is getting a bit expensive. £240 to play a split screen game with move. A boxing game was shown with Kinect. What's this! Only ONE Kinect. Playing split screen boxing anyone, hold on, Don't need to buy another Kinect. This is working out a bit cheap. What's that? Kinect can keep track of 8 people. No thanks, I'll go for the Sony move, 8 of those will only cost £480. Cheap that Sony move, really cheap. Ohh you fanboys....

  • BrayanA #72 2 years ago

    Move - €39.99
    Navigation Controller - €29.99.
    PlayStation Eye - €29.99.
    That is €100
    NO THANK YOU!!!
  • vizzini #73 2 years ago

I guess I should have put this in here as opposed to the interview thread.

looking to get a pre-order of Eyetoy, Socom 4, Move controller & sub controller(for me),
Sports champions, 1 Move controller for her. The price is starting to look like madness.

I was expecting it to cost about £160 for everything listed above; e.g 2x games (£35 each), 2 controllers + sub controller (£25 each), + £20 camera ~ £165 or maybe less with some discounted starter bundles from Sony.

But looking at Amazon and other pre-order prices, £25 camera, £40 x2 for move remotes, £30 sub controller, Socom at £45 , sports champions ? (probably £45 also) = £225

The part that is really ludicrous is that Sports Champions would still need another £80 worth of Move controllers to simultaneously play 2 player = £305.

I love gaming, but spending that on two games, one for me and a game for her is shockingly priced.

    I'd also still only own 1 sub-controller.
  • TheRook21 #74 2 years ago

    @vizzini

Use your six axis/DS3 controller in place of the sub controller - that saves you £30 (until a later date)

I think there will probably be a socom 4 move/bundle of sorts...

I think they should really have priced Move as £50 for wand and sub controller bundle...

I thought I read somewhere that Move games will be cheaper(£30 rather than £40) than standard games (too much informatio nfrom the whole E3 thing to remember where I saw and read stuff)
