What a lovely little utopia.

I bet that when you turn 30 they lay on a special ceremony.

Some really riveting conversations going on there then...
• aldo_14 #4 5 years ago

It's kind of impressive in concept, but soulless in looks.

+1

Next on the agenda- a utopia of ugly little bastards.
• Caimbeul #6 5 years ago

@ Aldo_14: I agree Souless, no Character. At first glance i thought "The Sims". After looking at some of the screen shots I thought some of it loked nice but again souless. Just like so many games theses days especially X360 ones.

the sony bods have just made all their characters look too... trendy. they look for an ad campaign for gap, which we'll probably see in home one day anyway.
• rodpad #8 5 years ago

Eurogamer, you forgot to add this official screenshot.

Bravo on Sony reaching toward the yougner generation.

:D

Why are there a couple of Folding@home screen grabs mixed in there...
• DrDamn #11 4 years ago

Would be nice if EG provided galleries which split shots by when they were added too ...
• GamesConnoisseur #12 4 years ago

So what really new? They delayed Home for months and would have hoped to see some new features. I am never into myspace/msn myself so not sure Home would do me!

I m more interested in the features that you can do, but silly to watch small clips in an theatre when you can just watch the full size.

Still will give this benefit of doubt and it could be reasonably successful. Will EG review Home as a piece of title when released?!

Gaming 3.0 hurts my soul, I guess I need a brain update.

Yeah, called Carousel. I've got me running shoes on and I'm out the door!

Why can't Sony do anything without mentioning spiderman!
• DanC89 #18 4 years ago

Yes this is all very well and good but isn't it supposed to be being rolled out this spring?

So next month onwards, yet we've heard nout about it for the best part of a year.
• T4RG4 #19 4 years ago

Sad, sad, sad. All IMHO :D

I want access to features, not 'trendy' Sims.
• Kenshin001 #20 4 years ago

I hope you can shoot people in Home.
• Saladin #21 4 years ago

Is it just me or does the guy in the fourth screenshot down on the left side look like he's about to shoot up?
• holydrone #22 4 years ago

Having just watched the wonderland documentary on Second Life, I can only assume that whereas SL is an escape for depressed and mundane individuals to feel outrageous and fabulous, this is a portal for allowing aliens, mutants and leprechauns to experience mundanity.

How many people are itching to experience what looks like a Jehovah's Witness version of Ibiza?

There is something really wrong about Home.

Everything ive seen of it seems so sterile, boring, with a nagging lack of expression.

I really dont want to spend my time getting items for my apartment.. like sofas, and pictures, and getting imbarrisingly boring wallpaper designs.. i walk around town and see the same thing, surely Home could have been a place to get away from all that, but instead they fill it with adverts and promotions. Soulless. Dont we spend enough time being subjected to that during our everyday lives?

I enjoy games (without advertising naturally) as they offer me a quick fix of escapism, entertainment, but also as an artist i enjopying seeing imaginations come alive with the things that can be and rarly are created..

I mean, with the sheer freedom of expression we see in art and design, surely it would be the perfect place to have characters that are far from human, unique in thier concept. Why not let people earn the reward to walk around as unique and vivid character rather then muted representation of human beings. I realise a nightmare to design, but why stick to the humanoid represeentation. And man are they DULL. even the colour of the skin texture is muted and grey... like i dont see that enough living in the UK!!!

The only hope comes in two places (that i know of), one is the Trophy room, at last a hint of a 'Gamertag' type system. Im fed up of not being able to share my accomplishments. I just hope that the only way to share my 'trophys' in not just through HOME.. and its not just represented visually by my trophys and there is a numerical 'score'. So i can see it in the XMB and share it online with my mates. Simple stuff really. Secondly its the hint of developers being able to make thier own areas of home. using Maya they can model and create animation and build thier own part. ALOT can be done with this idea, and i hope some devs actually try and steer away from the sterile environment that has been designed (and funded by boring men in suites holding the cash).

I beg that a dev actually designs a decent set of character types for us to run about in, with vivid ideas and imaginatiev designs.. something we've never seen before. AN AVATAR TO BE PROUD OF!

Hey everyone, there's a sale on at GAP! Let's go...!!!
• kangarootoo #26 4 years ago

New? I'm sure some of those screens were among the very first ones that were released.
• JediMasterMalik #27 4 years ago

@Kangarootoo - The EG system doesn't seperate different galleries, all home screens are in this one gallery, old and new. It's the same for most of the SS pnews posts, they mostly contain old shots as well as new.
• Ryze #28 4 years ago

Could be good.

It's all in Sony's hands to deliver this as an excellent software service sometime soon, and without cutting out promised features, or releasing something incomplete or underwhelming.

...er...

re: home's soulessness
isn't it the people that fill it with soul though?
hopefully you won't have to look like that
• stoopidgreg #31 4 years ago

those conversations are hilarious. seriously though, do they expect people to actually type with a controller? no way. anyone who wants to socialise with random strangers can do it much better in PC games or even just chat rooms. it takes ridiculously long to write just a sentence using the screen-keyboard on my xbox, so i just don't bother.
