The difference between the PS3 version and the 360 version of a multiplatform title:

PS3 owner: Buys game, goes home, plops it into console, plays.

360 owner: Buys game, forgot he sent in the RRoD-crashed beast for repairs, looks at purty box art for a week or two.

And there was no Home or LBP there - why? How can EG not look forward to those?

Oh! 'Liar' hasn't really impressed from 1st impressions from various rports. That's the reason they've delayed a month or two. But don't expect somthing great like Bioshock,
Mass Effect.

Why is everyone bigging up Mass Effect? It looks like garbage. As for Blue Dragon, Edge describes it as a generic, bland, rpg and only gave it 6/10. I wouldnt hold up my hopes for Lost Odessey...

Bleugh… coming back to look at this thread this morning (Tried to have a proper lie-in today but my mind is racing for some reason :P). Looks like a few things I maybe wasn’t too clear on:

1. Errm… 360 is my console of choice AT THE MOMENT. I intend to, hopefully, have justification to buy the other 2 consoles at some point over the next year or 2. TBH, there just aren’t the games there to justify a purchase of either the PS3 or Wii (don’t say Wii Sports - One game doth not a console make)

2. @Les - I do appreciate that the Wii is selling more but that’s not what frustrates me, it’s the Nintendo fans’ attitude of late. Nintendo used to make great titles (pre game cube) that pushed GAMING boundaries in terms of playability. Their console sold fewer in numbers (SNES onwards) but their fans kept a dignity in getting to play the few classics that they received (and they were few in number) . Now Nintendo make games that aren’t to my taste (fair enough), but also aren’t to the tastes of many established gamers (most Eurogamer readers, surely). Yet Nintendo fans have had something of a personality change and think everything’s about sales figures. When was gaming (as a player) ever about sales? I thought it was about games….

3. I’m not saying the PS3 should not be bought, just that I don’t see the point (YET!!!) for those already owning a 360.

Environmentally that's also an issue (also be serious). But of course then the Wii is the best option (unless you factor in WiiConnect24, oops). PS3 still seems the worst offender in that department though.

This selection does look decent, but pales compared to the combined Wii/360 lineup (either one of those lines ups is pretty good on its own).

Wait a minute...

Sega Rally – multiplatform.
Assassins Creed – multiplatform.
Lego Batman – multiplatform.
Half Life Episode 2 – multiplatform.
Unreal Tournament 3 – will probably be on 360.
Haze – will almost certainly be PC/360.
Call of Duty IV – multiplatform.
Rock Band – multiplatform.

And of the actual exclusive games, only Lair really has my attention, and maybe Heavenly Sword. Those two definitely don't add up to enough to make me fork out £425 though. (Hopefully the 15 Wii titles you choose will actually all be exclusives - or at least only shared with the DS.)

Haze and Unreal are coming to 360...LES: If you read the various reviews of Blue Dragon, it has received many good marks (Avg 8+/10) inc Japanese infamous Fatuasi games magazine.

No not really, there are the extremists ofcourse but this is nothing compared to the idiocy that comes from PS groupies in every and any Halo thread. Maybe you need to know that I to own a PS2 and 3. The problem is everytime I give some true criticism over PS,you say I'm a fanboy. The fact is for online: 360 is better then PS3. For multimedia: 360 is better then PS3. For gaming: 360 is better then PS3. For game exclusives: 360 is better then PS3. For graphics: 360 multiformat games (Rainbow Six, The Darkness, Fight Night, Call Of Duty 3...etc) look/play better then PS3, and nothing has shown me on PS3 that is better then Gears Of War,
and anything that has the carnage/explosions/on screen action and still look sweet without dropping framerates (..PS3 seems to have choppy frame rates at time like these) then games like: Lost Planet, Flatout, Dead Rising, Crackdown etc.

Oh! I can go on PS3 threads , because I do have one.

The biggest fact is that PS3 is almost double the price of a 360, which does a better job then PS3 - So I'm going to criticize the PS3 untill it does what Sony's hype promised (like they tried with Artec, Betamax, Minidisx, Super Cd, video Cd, and by saying LCD's are better then Plasma - where they were proved embarrassingly wrong by Pioneer, Phillips, Toshiba, Hatachi electronic Japanese 2006 show).

I've tried an early build of Uncharted and even though it was a slightly buggy version with unfinished fight mechanics, it was an immensely satisfying experience. Trust me, this'll be the sleeper hit of the year.

All games so far (bar oblivion) that have appeared on both systems are noticeably better on the 360, the 360 is even getting many of Sonys 'flagship' exclusives, DMC4 anyone?
I don't think the PS3 is crap (my lil bro has one) but even he is a bit disparaged as he got the thing to play VF5 and he was so excited...Only for a few days though as it came to light that a superior version of the game is on it's way to 360. I'm afraid that it's incredibly hard not to sound like an MS fanboy while comparing the PS3 and 360 at the moment as imo one is clearly a better choice for the gamer but hey if you're a movie buff after a cheap Bluray player, PS3 all the way ;)

Has some truth to it. Although I wouldn't know, turned my back on the sales wanking in the wii section some time ago.

We may have a small subscription that anyone can afford, but the online for 360 is so more developed for online gaming. How you possibly say the PS3 service is better - That's pure bullSh*t. I bet you probably never experienced both console's online and seen the advantages the 360 has and in muiltimedia.

To say the PS3 had arrived later is simply because of the delay PS3 in manufacturing enough Blu-ray parts for the machine, this delaying it for a year. It is in fact the same age as the 360. PS3 development kits were already with main Sony developers who made MotorStorm & Resisrance (absolute crap!). These were in development for 2yrs: Remember there previews of PS3 graphics power back in 2005. Developers have had extra time, approx 8+ months on cross conversions games (360 to PS3). Also when 360 Elder Scrolls came to the 360, this was a cross sync development with the PC - this was due to dev kits for the 360 being uncomplete. Though the very minor improvements on PS3 is hardly noticable, unlike 360 games that come to PS3 almost a year later, and come our worse..

As for choice of games!...What system has the most game NOW and most exclusives COMING ? It's not the PS3 or the Wii is it ! And please don't pretend there's no great games on 360. You only be lying to yourself.

That's more a problem of you projecting your silly fanboy mindset onto my comments than of said comments themselves. I look at products, not companies. I don't care about companies (unless I've bought their stock of course). Like I've said before, there are few MS products that I like (the original Xbox being one of the few). If that in your puny mind means that I hate MS, well there's little that I can do about it.

Fully agree. My point is that apparently a lot of people get enjoyment out of the Wii even if, from the POV of a traditional gamer, the games so far are pants. A "good game" is not an equivalent of "good graphics", which Sony and MS seem to think. I applaud Nintendo's dare to break out of the pointless "more pixels"-loop. I don't need a PS3/360 if all it does is take a PS2/Xbox game and adds some pixels and cuts some content. And apparently there are more people that feel that way.

What the DS and Wii' s success combined with relatively low development cost means is that publishers are able to take chances. Which eventually will be translated into innovative and good games. Look at PS2. Strong sales and good games strengthen each other.

TRUTH is probably an MS-paid viral marketeer (or otherwise just a sad person) that starts to mix up his stories. TRUTH didn't have a PS3 but knew it was crap. When he realised that took credit away from his attacking PS3, his brother got a PS3. After a while, his brother lended him the machine but TRUTH hated it so much that now apparently he got his own one. Just so that he can let it gather dust...

LES: My brother leant me his PS3 and still is with me as I have a 50' plasma HD. I compare the 2 as I can, so I will.

To say that Sony & MS only pump more pixels is simply crap. Games evolve...can Elder Scrols, Dead Rising, Motor Storm, Crack Down, Vina Patna, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage...etc be done Wii - Probably to some extent. Though this will have major edits everything from: graphics, AI, draw distance, sound, physics, characters onscreen, special effects, speech..etc, etc all being cut or removed to run on a inferior powered system.

To also say that Wii has a variety is 'BULL'. So-far everything is either a mini-game collection, or another fun for a few minutes game. Though Zelda was a fine game, it's still the same game with a new lick of paint and added control - which does the same function as previous Zelda games.

To be honest games like: Elder Scrolls, Ghost Racon, The Darkness (360 version), Motor Storm, Virtua Fighter 5, Dead Rising, Vina Patna, Forza Racing, Crackdown, Gears Of War, kameo, Guitar Heros, Command & Conquer..etc, have way more variety and gameplay then any Wii game, and last more alooooooooot longer with depth then any Wii game. Simply more choice on 360/PS3 (2nd).

With games like Bioshock, Half Life 2, Mass Effect, Assassin Creed, Fable 2, Fallout..etc, coming soon. It will futher prove that MS & Sony's machines are more then just 'More Pixels'. Ai, physics, memory, graphics, sound, playing area, on screen characters, animation etc is just some of the reason Wii won't be seeing some of the best games coming.

if you keep playing resistance its a lot of fun.it really improves as it goes on an co-op and online are great fun.

Burnout Paradise (winner of the E3 'best racing game' award, first open world game to run at 60fps, cross-format project with PS3 as the lead platform) appears to be curiously absent.

Well online is where it's at with Resistance. The 1p wasn't the greatest but I breezed through it and have been playing online since launch. So many good game modes and maps and guns.

Now this thread has exactly as much bullshit in it as the 360 one did
