Trophies! YouTube! Ghosts! Easier!

Q-Games's new PixelJunk Racers content, dubbed 2nd Lap, will be released in April.

It will be a separate download available to owners of the original game for "a very small amount" - probably dollar or two, according to Q-Games boss Dylan Cuthbert (talking to GiantBomb). New players will need to pay the full, unknown price.

2nd Lap adds Trophies, YouTube video support and lowers the overall difficulty for a more "approachable" experience.

The biggest new feature is Ghost Attack mode, which automatically records a ghost to go with a time. These can be shared with friends and posted to the worldwide rankings board, where anybody can drive against them.

Q-Games' idea for 2nd Lap was to bring PixelJunk Racers up to parity with newer games like PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Shooter, which are both worth a look.

Indeed, if they've made it more approachable without making it insultingly easy then I might finally be able to get my flatmate to try it. Great little game, not really a racer but definitely full of fun.

It is a game full of lots of good ideas. The main barrier was the difficulty level - that this is being addressed is a very good thing.

I grabbed Racers after falling in love with PJ Monsters (that sounds dodgy) but couldn't really get into it for the shameful reason that the game made me feel retarded. I like to think I have a strong tactical mind and good reflexes to match, but PJ Racers just killed me, the difficulty curve is just so steep.

I did enjoy what little of Racers I could play so the "2nd lap" is a welcome addition, and if that "dollar or two" price holds true in the UK then it's a definite sale for me.
