Phantasy Star Portable coming to Europe News

PSP News by Ellie Gibson

17 October, 2008

SEGA has confirmed PSP game Phantasy Star Portable is getting a European release.

It's set just after the events of Phantasy Star Universe and sees you teaming up with new character Vivienne. You'll have to "investigate an outbreak of wild animals that may possess the remnants of a once-powerful malevolent force", which should be fun.

There are three class types and four races to choose from, plus more than 150 new weapons and items. Up to four-players can enjoy the co-op mode via the PSP's wireless connection.

Phantasy Star Portable is out here next spring.

I love PSU. Would like to know if this title is more focused on online (coop) or in the sinlge player experience, as my online experiences with PSP have been very, very poor. Lovely system to play at home when TV is abducted by the female species.

What is this PSU you speak of - there is only Phantasy Star 1, 2, 3 and 4!
Now PSP and/or HD remakes of those games would be lovely.

Does anyone think this will do better business than Monster Hunter? Tried the Jap demo which was fun once it got going, but hardly thigh-slappingly modern

If it was online I'd be there, even though it could get me fired from work! It's not though, so neither am I.

Ah good, I'd heard the US release confirmation so was hoping this wouldn't be far behind. I play a lot of PSU, so naturally want to fill more of my time with that.

EG on Phantasy Star Universe, I would say the game is more for the fan of the series. Perhaps Zastai have selective memory of the later versions of PS as he seem to be referring to the 'true' version and said accordingly 'PSP and/or HD remakes of those would be lovely!' as if new iteration PSU would not matters!

Still good for PSP to get something juicy for RPG as bit starved compared to the DS!

I've been starved of PSU/PSO goodness ever since I couldn't be bothered to pay Sega £18 for 3 months on PS2 - the subscription is a bit of a rip off - I hope they can keep subscriptions low or charge nothing by buying weapons with real money in the game.

The choice of psp is a good one!
