PES 2008 PC demo

By mutual consent.

Following on from last week's Xbox Live release, Konami has released a PC version of the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 demo.

You can grab it from the Internets, where you will find that it's 1126MB in size. Once installed you can reportedly pick from six national teams and play a five-minute game.

The full version is due out on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PS2 from 26th October, while DS and PSP versions are set to follow in November and a Wii version is also planned for release, probably next year.

Look for our thoughts on the latest (and, Konami says, the greatest) PES game closer to release. And stop picking Madrid all the time.

    Inter Milan would have been more accurate. PC demo feels exactly like the 360 version on first play.
  • Sebo #4 4 years ago

    @Sniglet

    Yup, the Nerazzuri are the team to be

    PS3 demo MUST be out tomorrow? Surely!?

    Konami can't bloody win last year people were bitching how hard it was to get into and lacked that pick up and play gameplay while praising Fifa for accessibility, Konami try to address that... and for gods sake I hope your criticism isn't the first of many.
  • Sebo #7 4 years ago

    @ulov3

    A lot of criticism fired at the last two iterations were that they were too simultion like.

  • Sebo #8 4 years ago

    What do you mean on the wing with one pass??
  • Sebo #9 4 years ago

    @ulov3

    What you described sounds just like real football to me.

    I've been playing the FIFA 08 demo on PS3, mildly impressed but not convinced it's the real deal.
  • king_ghidra #11 4 years ago

    I have to echo some of the comments above. Fifa 08 is the superior game this year. I have bought only the PES series for 8 years and scorned the FIFA series but the balance has shifted. FIFA is now the game for the conoisseur and PES seems like some crack-induced frenzy.

    The ball movement in PES 2008 is horrible. The ball feels more like a medicine ball, with the players dragging it along the pitch, then suddenly flying like a helium-filled rocket when it is kicked.
  • Sebo #12 4 years ago

    I haven't played PES2008 yet, so I can only speculate. PES6 certainly wasn't earth shattering, but I put that down to restraints of the 360 build being a spin off of the PS2 one.

    This time round I thought they would have truly reinvigorated the series. If not, then my Evo fanboyism will certainly be a thing of the past.

    what idiot picks real madrid in pro evo (RM fans excluded obviously)

    while i may agree with some points so far, i can't understand y things like goalie deflections piss people off? it's part of the beautiful game. if adriano came and smacked a ball at the real life buffon from just outside the area u really think buffon is gonna just catch it? unlikely. he would probably palm it wide but sometimes the ball would come too quick for him, he wouldn't react quick enough and he deflects it back into the area by mistake.
    also running down the wing?? lol, u must either only play against the computer or against crap humans because i've played hundreds of games with my friend and only a couple of times have either of us been able to do that as we would normally get a midfielder to cut him off.
    but anyway, while the PES2008 demo may have bugs etc. i still can't believe what i'm reading when i c people saying that the FIFA demo was better. it's just plain crap. they feel so robotic to play with, they have NO individual characteristics so every player seems to play exactly the same, free kick system is shockingly bad it's just retarded.
    be angry at PES all u like, maybe don't even buy it this year, but to say FIFA is better?!?!? that's just kicking PES in the twig and berries.

    i agree with ulov3 actually, and i have been a pes fan for years too. This generation seems like a bit of a role reversal

    2008 is arcadey. I'm a bit disappointed but at the same time they've changed it to give it a different feel. It's taken a bit to get used to it. I think some of the physics and the rest will be tweaked before release.

    As for choosing Real Madrid, they're a good squad with excellent ball control and passing skills. Van Nistelrooy is a superb finisher and fat Ronaldo is a great sub. I think this year Barca will be the team to pick; Messi, Puyol, Goofy and now Henry.

    I'm not gonna listen to any of these harsh comments, Pro Evo has always played best on the playstation compared to the xbox/pc.
    I've played the Fifa demo and dislike it completely, the free kick process is disastrous. Like the fact you can still play around while its loading though, nice touvh.

    @Sir-tripod.

    Fat Ronaldo has been mean lean Ronaldo at AC Milan for the last nine months. Waken up!!!!!

    As levis said, the PS2 versions seem miles better. I must admit I have not played PES6 on PS2, but both WE10 and JLWE2007CC on PS2 wipe the floor with PES6 for PC.

    ulov3: I thought you had a point until you spoke about how lately PES is too much about speed. Have you actually played the last few games? Player speed advantages have been extremely nerfed since the days of either PES3 or PES4, where the likes of Owen, Martins etc could just run through a defense. These days it's more extreme dribbling of the C. Ronaldo, Henry, Messi, Ronaldinho, Robinho type that you are relatively out of luck against - but any other mortal can still catch up to them. They'll just dribble around him.

    Sebo: That a player has been at some club for years does not mean that he actually is there in PES/WE until you patch the game/download a decent option file.

    Why are people pissed off that Ronaldo is so amazing in the game. He can do that shit in real life; so whats the problem. He IS an amazing player
  • Sebo #21 4 years ago

    @luckz

    You have played pro evo haven't you? The guy was on about Henry being at Barca so he was talking present day teams. Ronaldo will not be at Madrid in PES2008.

    Disagree totally. I have WE 2007 on the PS2 and PES 6 on the PC and the differences between the two are tiny, apart from the graphics.

    Can anyone else not get this to install properly?
  • levis #24 4 years ago

    Do not care whether or not there are english stadiums in the game, why would you? It's not like you see much of it while PLAYING the actual game! I highlight the word 'playing' because thats what matters in a game, playability, wouldn't buy a game for its licenses if there was a game that plays so much like the real thing.
  • Luckz #25 4 years ago

    Sebo: I have played Pro Evo and that's why I am used to the transfers being horribly out of date.

    ulov3: Doesn't "fantasy stadium" mean "one we don't have a license for but still put into the game"?
    Is it Konami's fault that some league morons keep on giving EA exclusive licenses?

    (A properly patched PES6 PC has, uh, as many stadiums as you want? Show me another footie game that compares)

    Feanor: Are you by chance only playing the AI or so? Mh, WE2007 was a carbon clone of PES6, right? I assume you mean that and not JLWE2007CC?
