PES 2008 dated
"Greatest of all time".
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will launch for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and mobile on 26th October.
PSP and DS versions will follow in November. A Wii version is also planned.
Konami made the announcement this afternoon, with president Kunio Neo saying he reckons it's "the greatest football game of all time".
"Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats."
PES 2008's key features include an adaptive AI system (Teamvision), and the usual array of refinements to graphics and gameplay, as well as a proper Edit mode (something 360 owners got short-changed on last time).
PES' traditional rival, FIFA, launches for PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PS2, PSP and DS on 28th September.

Pro evo is still for the true hardcores but foifa serves graphics slags well.

As it is, FIFA will sell more just because it came out first.

Maybe, but I think fifa and PES have many dedicated fans which will buy only their respective favourites. The Christmas market may establish the most popular.
Then again, many people (parents) will just buy the game depending who is on the box.

@Tuffty
I'd actually like that, as long as there was the option to turn it on and off as you please.

And since when did Fifa ditch the D-pad and use triggers for sprint I was so pissed off at the demo and people were saying this is Fifa's year HA.

Having your shots go where you point them would be a good place to start.

What they claimed was that this year's version on PS3 was three times better than last year's one on xbox360 (not this year's 360 one). It was a very confusing quote, but sounded promising.

Those quotes came from a forum poster who claimed to be a Konami rep but tried to prove his id using an amusement arcade card. Basically it was all bs.

Oh right because it's impossible for games to exceed 9GB.

i agree with you totally on the slowing down factor of footy games. i was trying to pinpoint why i found the fifa demo so unusual.....and i think u got it spot on.

Totaly agree that's why after years of PES I found Fifa 07 (xbox) such a breath of fresh air. It was fluid, not on rails, passes and shots went where you wanted them too. In a nut shell it was FUN.
Based on the demo it looks like Fifa 08 is going down the same route as PES (slowly sucking all the enjoyment out of it) which is a shame.
Roll on SWOS.....

So you think because the Xbox 360 version comes on a 7.2 GB DVD (that's how much space devs have to use) that the PS3 version which will come on a 25 GB BD will only use 7.2 GB?
Get a grip ffs.
The PS3 version might have higher quality sound and better textures for all we know. Sure it won't change the fact that both games will be nigh on identical in play but I'm quietly hopeful that Konami give PS3-owners something extra even if it it's only those things I mention.
By the way, I found where I read "the 18 GB size" and the "three times better than 360 version"... it was in issue 11 of PSU3 magazine and apparently original from a Konami insider who posted on a Korean website but, obviously, that doesn't make it official or anything and I'm still dubious myself. Hopefully Konami will make some use of that extra 18 GB of storage space though.

It's funny how we all say you have got to play PES for a week or two to appreciate it, but with Fifa people write it off after a 2 minute demo !

If the 360 version isnt up to scratch its going to be obvious they neglected that version but I doubt Konami would do that, they want it to sell well and might be a bit worried about the reception Fifas are getting recently. Im a PES fan but Im already curious about the new fifa, if they do another sloppy 360 PES(not played 06 but heard a few complaints about the lack of effort, it still sold so they kind of owe it to these fans really) then I might just see what the fuss is about with the new FIFA. That said Im sure they are putting just as much effort into the 360 version it may just be that its a little behind, so I wouldnt hold your breathe on a "better" PS3 version.

"If you think Pro evo on PS3 uses 18GB of disk space then your mother must have dropped you on your head at least 15 times as a baby.
Get a grip ffs."
----------------
You do realise that games are compressed onto discs don't you, so if Pro Evo on the 360 uses up the whole disc and has a 50% compression rate, which is not that uncommon then it could easily be 18gb on the PS3. This will help speed up load times on the PS3 although, they're already slow so chances are they'll be just as quick as on the 360 now. You'll also see improved frame rates and any sound or videos will be better on the PS3.

There will never be a game with no compression. This compression limit is likely to effect the xbox 360 more as developers will have a choice of longer load times or another disk, most developers will go for the cheaper option so longer load times are going to happen.
