Penny Arcade game on XBLA next week
For 1600 Microsoft Points.
Microsoft has just chimed in to say Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One will be available next Wednesday on Live Arcade.
Not only is it a long title, but it's made by adventure game legend Ron Gilbert with the help of the artistically gifted chaps from Penny Arcade: Mike 'Gabe' Krahulik and Jerry 'Tycho' Holkins.
Rain-Slick, as we are calling it [we're not - Ed], is described as an RPG-adventure that takes place in a 1920s-style world featuring bonkers characters and adult humour.
PAA Episode One, as we're now calling it, will cost 1600 Microsoft Points (GBP 13.60 / EUR 19.20).
Expect our thoughts soon.

And Edge only gave it 4/10, so I'm not exactly optimistic for the game.

However, it strikes me as expensive. The entire Season 2 of Sam & Max (5 episodes) can be bought for the PC for the equivalent of 2200 MS points, yet they want 1600 points for one episode. Sorry to convert everything back to fake MS money, but it's easier to compare that way.

FIXED!!!
Edge reviews are generally accurate (there are exceptions, but then there are with all review mags/sites). I personally find Edge reviews represent my perspective on titles - hence I shall be steering well clear of this title!

As for the game, well I just hope its not awful - anything above that and I'll be impressed. I won't be buying it, for the simple reason that my 360 is a few thousand miles away from me at this moment in time. Grrrrrrrr.

I enjoy PA, I think Gabe's artistic style is fantastic, I find Tycho's writing to be clever and entertaining, and I find that their webcomic frequently hits the nail right on the head on certain issues. They tell you without hesitation when they think a game is more or less deserving of praise, they call attention to indie titles, and they run one of the best videogame conventions in the world.
So I will be getting this.
But you know, if you don't like them then don't buy it. It's not rocket science.

You do know it's possible to like the comic strip and still find this game to be crap...don't you?
