Penny Arcade game gets priced News

News by Ellie Gibson

28 March, 2008

Hothead Games has announced the price for the first instalment in episodic game series Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

It'll cost USD 19.95 (GBP half of that) for the Windows, Mac and Linux versions of the game. An Xbox Live Arcade version will launch simultaneously, but there's no word on how much it'll cost yet. Apparently episode one will offer "five to ten hours of gameplay".

PAA is being developed in co-operation with Ron Gilbert, him who did Monkey Island. For more on the game, why not read our recent interview with the man himself.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is due out this spring.

Worth it for the abbreviation alone: PAA-OTR-SPOD!

You can't indeed, but not sure of the relevance of that statement in relation to news of a brand new game franchise being co-developed by Ron Gilbert.

You can't stand up in a hamock.

What? This isn't Spout-Random-Bollox Day?

You can't wash windows with a bicycle.

Oh so it's nothing to do with the desperately unfunny comic strip then? My mistake. ;)

Penny Arcade has never ever made me laugh, just sneer with annoyance at how shit/popular it is.

You want a webcomic? THIS is a webcomic!

You can't polish a turd isn't random bollocks.

And it also happens to be one of my favourite sayings. Usually used when my mother-in-law wears make-up.

I suppose if this game gets bad reviews the PA guys will tell us it's because reviewers aren't playing the game properly, like they did with Ass Creed.

@ thedaveeeyres: I agree 100%. I've never got even a chuckle from one of their comic strips.

It's all to do with different types of people. If you read the blog and think the two guys are talking total crap you're gonna turn to the comic expecting something equally crap. I myself share a similar outlook on life and some of the things they've said, particularly Gabe, I've fully agreed with. I also find the comic absolutely hilarious.

Needless to say, I'll be picking this up.

I don't find the comic hilarious, but I do enjoy reading it, especially when they use it to make observations on the weirdness of game worlds. It could be worse, it could be that self-important grandiose bollocks that is Ctrl-Alt-Del. Now THAT"S boring.

Has to be said I find that fat baldy cunt that waffles on in the PA blog to be an arsehole of the highest order, though. I didn't used to, but that bullshit about reviewers not playing games properly was sickening.

Amen to that, brother. I'll be picking this up too.
