Penny Arcade Episode 2 to be cheaper

Hothead takes fan feedback on board.

Hothead games has decided to make the second episode of Penny Arcade Adventures cheaper.

The game is finished, although without date, and will sell for 1200 Microsoft points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40) on XBLA, and USD 14.95 (GBP 7.50) on PC.

That's a saving of 400 MS Points on Xbox 360, when compared with Episode One, and USD 5 on PC.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two - to give it its ridiculously lengthy full name, once more delves into the twisted 1920s world, where heroes Gabe and Tycho are called upon to solve another mystery.

That means plenty more JRPG-meets-Western-adventure gameplay all wrapped up in a lovely comic-book sheen.

We found the first episode a little awkward, and quite hard to justify for the hefty price. Apparently fan feedback has weighed heavily on the second instalment, which, coupled with a lower asking price, could set this series back on track.

I wanted to like the first, but it didn't press my buttons enough.

Impulse bought it when drunk. never touched it again. The story is quite funny, shame the gameplay is the most boring stuff since... well....boredom. I'd rather have a cartoon of it than a game.

Fan of the comics so will definately be getting this. Good thing it's cheaper though.

I quite liked this. well, spent enough time playing it to finish it anyway.

Not many turn based strategy or rpg games on the Xbox :-(

Had the same reaction to this as most of you guys. The dialog and characters were initially funny but, the gameplay was just plain broken and ultimately boring. I got as far as faking the hobo meat quality and then thought "Come on even in comic land this story is idiotic!"

Liking both Penny Arcade and RPG games, I wanted to buy into this, but even at £10 it is still far out of purchase territory for me.

I mean, for £20 (I'm assuming it'll be a bit more, seeing as they didn't say anything about changes in price to the first one - unless that dropped in price already and I missed it?), I can pick up (or at least come very close to, with the addition of a few quid more) any number of quality RPG games for the PS2, 360 or PC. That come with boxes and manuals and discs and everything.

The problem here is, even if they do address a lot of the game play concerns from the first episode, and make it cheaper. I still wouldn't want to get it just because I've "missed" part 1. So they are in a difficult situation really unless they want to bundle a new and improved episode 1 into it as part of a pack.

Well, I really liked the first one (on pc) and I'm a big fan of the comic so this will pretty much be an instant buy for me.

Lower the price of the first one, fuckers....

I really enjoyed the first game - the writing and the art style were both awesome. Also, I remember being impressed by audio (I liked all the incidental noises of their twisted steampunk world..)

I'll be getting this. If you don't click with Penny Arcade's humour, fine - but it's really your loss!
