Peace Walker was originally MGS5

It had a logo and everything.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the imminent PSP release in the stealth action series, was until quite shortly before it was announced going to be titled Metal Gear Solid 5.

The Kojima Productions blog (via Kotaku) made the revelation, showing photos of concept logos for the full title Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker.

The number 5 appeared on the teaser site for the game last May. After its unveiling, Kojima called it an "MGS5-class game" and revealed that he was designing and directing it with the MGS4 team.

Peace Walker, offering four-player co-op and compeititive multiplayer with its slice of traditional MGS action, will be released in Europe on 28th May.

Hope it gets released on PS3.. Would be ace if everything was made high-res then scaled back for PSP so they could release it on PS3. Or, PS2 at the very least!

They least they could do is release an IMAX version of the next MGS.

I'm not big on playing PSP games anymore so this is likely going to be a game that I'll have to miss out on, especially after MGS Portable Ops being so disappointing.

So? Couldn't care less...the franchise became sooo boring, it should have been titled MGS: Sleep Walker.

I'm pretty sure when they announced this at E3 along with the PS3/360 MGS game that they said the PSP version was really the true sequel anyway and the next PS3/360 game is more of a spin off, down a new series.

Tbh, I'm only interested in the story. I hardly play my PSP anymore and I'll get this for the sake of MGS but the controls are too fiddly on the demo and I didn't enjoy Portable Ops as much as I would have liked.

That could also suggest that they're saving the number for a console game. I'm sure if they kept the 5 on Peace Walker is would help it shift a few copies. As it is I'm sure more than a few people are just considering it as another spin-off, regardless of Hideo's involvement.

It ll appear on PS3 via PSN for PSP! I certainly don't think they ll remake the same for HD PS3 version and PSP whilst a much under supported format gets an exclusive.

Same way as God of War Chains of Olympus is going to stay a PSP exclusive. Can see the sense of doing it multiplatform but then PSP would just get inferior port.

Interesting that decision was made to drop MGS5 as this show the devs keen to hold onto that title for future possible game and also shows not full confidence for PSP to be allocated the distinction.

Must be marketing people who decides I think.

bought a PSP 3000 for christmas in anticipation of this, Kingdom Hearts BBS and Valkyria Chronicles 2!

the demo was fantastic once i adjusted to the controls, and learned that the sneaking suit is essential for stealth

It was clear from the first announcement.

I didn't like the last metal gear on psp but metal gear acid was fantastic! Until they make a second analogue stick there's just no point making these type of games on psp.
