PC, PS2 not getting NHL 10?

No profit to be had, apparently.

A report on the Hockey Downloads forum has indicated that NHL 10 will never make it to PS2 or PC, saying that economic pressures are behind the decision.

Veteran user 'Drezz', who has apparently been in touch with Ryan Nicholas at EA, writes in his post that: "I regret to inform all of you that I was notified on Monday that NHL10 will NOT be produced for the PC/PS2.

"As of now, the division in charge of putting out hockey games for those platforms have been reassigned to work on the console versions (Xbox 360 and PS3). Due to economic concerns, the separate PC version wasn't worth putting manpower into - I don't blame them, since the revenue from PC sales wasn't high enough to create a significant profit for the company."

Not perhaps the most biting aspect of the credit crunch, but one that is likely to see literally dozens of people go "oh".

EA was not available for comment at time of writing.

What do you mean, slow news day?

2K apparently is stepping in to fill the void with NHL 2k10 on PC.

No question EA's franchise is more popular than 2K's. But that's because of Xbox360 and PS3. The PC version of NHL has been neglected for years, While 2K's product is generally inferior on the big consoles, it's PC release may well be ahead of EA's NHL09.

If it wasn't for the 'Credit Crunch' NHL 10 would have been made for the PS2 & PC...And Gamecube, Game Boy, Dreamcast, Xbox, Wii, Xbox 360, N64, Megadrive, Master System, Super Nintendo, NES, PS One, PS3, NGage , Gizmondo, Saturn, GBA, ds , Mobile and coming soon was NHL 10 The Movie, Starring whoever we could bribe with money, Love from E.A.

    Sorry couldn't help it,

    Electronic Arts-the cash in tarts!

(Yeah Yeah, Dead Space and Mirrors Edge are good, but, EA have a lot of making up to do after years of shite games)

Considering EA have basically released EXACTLY the same version of the game since around 2006/2007, barring maybe a new league in Scandinavia every so often, I'm not surprised nobody buys them. If they hadn't been so lazy with the previous versions, they'd still be making a profit.

Sill not to make a Wii or PSP version and port it to the PS2. Have the sales of sports games really dried up on the 140m selling PS2? I guess the US and Canada now have 360s.
