PC ProStreet demo up now

Down with cats and dogs.

EA has whipped a new demo for Need For Speed ProStreet on to the Internet.

It sits on the starting grid at 795MB and lets you pretend you are a real street racing type with dice in your mirror.

Fresh features this year are based around altering your car's performance under the hood, rather than just spraying fancy designs on the outside. The big idea is that you will spend ages tweaking it and take your creation online to show and race against your friends.

You will also pick up lots of dents and scratches along the way, wearing them like battle scars to show what you and your machine have been through together.

The full game is due out for PC, PS2, PS3, 360 and DS on 23rd November. Look out for our thoughts on it soon.

Hate to say it, but it looks promising

This demo is appalling. Handling is a choice between major handholding, minor handholding, and constant crashing. The whole thing looks like a cartoon; it's actually really surprising how different it seems in motion from the shots, and not in a good way. Product placement like you'd never believe. Unskippable cutscenes. And of course, for all their shouting about tuning the cars, can you do it? Of course not. Two races, one fixed car for each. How not to impress me.

I d/l this time (after previously avoiding the 360 demo), I played, I ran at top quality on full settings + 8XAA and it ran well... looked 'ok'

however, I have to ask where is the gameplay and the control?

a horrible feeling 'game' that I never want to go near again, and no amount of Japanese semi-exoctica is going to convince me otherwise... does EA even play other racers to see how handling should be done? (even arcade handling).

Oh and that was with an Xbox 360 controller via wireless... and it still felt 'wrong' in a bad way... Sega Rally Revo is a thousand times better and most people said that felt a bit wrong or nothing special (I quite like Sega Rally Revo though, great on a good PC + 360 contoller).

I have downloaded the demo but have not installed it yet. Your comments is not such an encouraging sight - but all I can say is that wait for the final game. Given that it is just a 750 MB demo, one can at least HOPE that most of the gameplay has been cut out of it.

That said, I'd take anything over Carbon/Underground bling-bling night-only racing! That is, if PGR4 ever lets me go this winter.
