Paper Mario and others dated News

DS Wii News by Tom Bramwell

21 June, 2007

Nintendo Europe has issued its Q3 release schedule, bringing us firm dates for the likes of Super Paper Mario, Big Brain Academy and Trauma Center on Wii.

The platform holder's latest schedule also dishes dates for the DS, telling us when to expect Zelda spin-off "Freshly Picked - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland".

Wii stuff first - Super Paper Mario will finally take a bow on 14th September, months and months after its celebrated US release, while Big Brain Academy for Wii (reviewed yesterday) pops across next month on 20th July and Trauma Center: Second Opinion (a Wii launch title in the US) opens us up on 10th August.

Tingle's DS RPG, meanwhile, is also set to launch on 14th September, having been preceded by the (already announced) dates for Elite Beat Agents (13th July) and Pokémon Diamond/Pearl (27th July).

Third-party highlights are a mix of things we know and things we didn't: Resident Evil Wii Edition is out on 29th June, Scarface for Wii is out on 30th June, Alien Syndrome from SEGA is 7th September, and on the DS side Sonic Rush Adventure should be ready for 28th September.

Months and months after US release seem to be a Nintendo special! Can't they improve their localisation so that in future we European won't suffer while our cousins across the pond chortling away at our misfortunes and their unbridled joy of getting their dirty mitts on the games meant for us all!

I am quite happy. I can wait for Trauma centre and Paper Mario, as there is a myriad of 360 games that i want. However, if i only had a wii, i'd be extremely pissed off

! My dad bought me California Games when I got my Mega Drive for Christmas, back in... 1990 something. A long time ago. But I still remember it perfectly! What a game. Shame surfing was impossible.

Excellent news, really looking forward to RE4 (obviously), Trauma Center and Super Paper Mario. Still playing Mario Strikers all the time so the schedule fits me really well... the games I'm looking forward to are about 5 weeks apart, meaning I get good time with each. Perfect.

So.... there's finally a release date for SMB and yet people are *still* moaning?

Said it elsewhere, but if the late release of content bothers you that much, get a US Wii - all this mithering for mithering's sake is quite tiresome.

SPM Thank F*** for that at last Nintendo.

My only issue is you go and put it out just before Halo 3. Mind you looking at that schedule there isnt going to be anything else troubling my wallet in that time.

Hm. Adequate I guess. I would be fed up if I wanted to spend hours a day engrossed games but then I wouldn't have bought a wii in the first place ... anyway with the current 14 hour working days I can only just manage bratz ponyz.

Anyway - the wii suits people like me with short attention spans, the real dichotomy arises when ... oooh look! there's a helicopter outside

Bratz Ponyz FFS .. they should ban this sick filth.

So where's Metroid Prime 3, then, NOE?

Still no reason to buy a Wii (or a PS3 for that matter. I'd consider 360 if I thought it would last more than a couple of years before breaking.)

Next gen? Don't make me laugh.

Hmmm, it's a bit tragic that Super Paper Mario isn't out while mid-September and that we've still got a six week wait until the heavily-delayed Trauma Centre 2nd Opinion is out... still at least there's RE4 to look forward to next Friday, eh (if you're looking forward to playing a two year-old game with Wiimote controls, that is - I know I am!).

How Nintendo have maintained the momentum with the Wii with such a lousy release schedule up to now is anyone's guess... one can't help but wonder how they might have done had they released lots of triple A game for the system already! LOL

RandolphScott - "Nintendo really need to get a killer app for Wii."

Do they though? It seems to be outselling everything else, the PS3 and 360 included, by a substantial margin without having any killer apps released for it since last December's Zelda: Twilight Princess unless you count Mercury Meltdown Revo, which while excellent, doesn't exactly have mainstream appeal.

Ok, so Metroid Prime 3 has a US release date already set, 26th August or something. So I'm guessing from this new Euro release list that we wont be seeing it until December at the earliest I'd imagine. NOE realy need to fix up.

Boogie from EA is due here on 31st August anyway...
