PAL PlayStation Store refreshed News

PlayStation 3 PSP News by Robert Purchese

7 January, 2010

This week's PlayStation Store refresher offers a demo version of Dark Void, due out for the Sony console and Xbox 360 on 22nd January, among other treats.

There are also trial and full versions of Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond, the 2D side-scrolling shooter accompaniment to last year's wretched Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is the pick of the special offers - available until 21st January - while three of the four new PS3 PSN games can be tried before taking the plunge.

Game add-on highlights are Borderlands' challenging but brilliant Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, as well as a monster Call of Duty: World at War map bundle and live Rolling Stones songs for Guitar Hero.

All the rest can be found below.

Good to see a PixelJunk game on special offers, shame it's the worst of the bunch though!
I'll give the Dark Void demo a go, I'm sure someone implied it might be good.

Already downloaded the Dark Void demo... Frankly, it stinks! very floaty controls and generic as hell. Any other opinions?

Extreme pinball. Woo. The PAL selection of PSX titles is just horrid when compared with the other regions.

Yeah, the weekly deals are about the one thing that isn't so bad about the PSN store.

I highly, highly recommend the new Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 table for Zen Pinball ... it's awesome and for 1.99 euro a complete no brainer! You used to get two credits for that on a real table back in the old days, lol!

Savage Moon reduced to 4 quid, there goes my PSN credit. Need to get Dr Ned's and Mad Moxxi's for Borderlands too.

Good to see the first store update of 2010 bringing in a lot of good stuff, shame we all know this won't continue, as much as I love the PSN it still seems that compared to America and Japan the European/UK store just doesn't receive enough content.

The PSN store has slowly been getting better in the UK, hopefully this year they can get more up to speed with the US/Jap ones. I definately think that the "offers" are a good thing. If they could progress to a point where one game was on offer each week then, that would certainly keep people happy and generate a stack of extra cash for Sony, as they hoover up the people who wont pay £7.99 a game but will pay £5 :P

Yeah, not impressed with Dark Void - I may be spoiled after playing through Uncharted 2 over Christmas. DV has horrible flight controls, you're tumbling in circles a lot of the time. And the ground sequences just don't flow the way U2 does. Also, the graphics are, well, Dark, but also drab. It's yet another console game with terrible distance-fades and no horizon - the fantasy landscapes look more 1998 than 2010. And they've already sold the movie rights! Good luck with that one..

Both Dark Void and that Matt Hazard game was horrible. Below mediocre imo. Might have to check out the Ninja Gaiden pinball table, tho.
