Pac-Man movie on the way News

Yes. They're doing a Pac-Man film.

"They" being Crystal Sky Pictures, which has just signed a five picture deal worth USD 200 million with Grosvenor Park.

According to Variety, the deal also covers the previously announced Castlevania film, which is being directed by Sylvain White.

There's no word on who's directing the Pac-Man film, or who will star in it, or when it's coming out, or how on earth anyone could think making a Pac-Man film is a good idea in any way at all.

But someone at Crystal Sky must do - they first snapped up the rights from Namco more than five years ago. Funny how they haven't gotten around to making it yet.

The only thoughts I've had about this working are if Michel Gondry of Eternal Sunshine, Science of Sleep and Be Kind Rewind fame took the reins, then perhaps it could work.

I'm having images of Gael Garcia Bernal roaming hallways dressed in a massive Pac-Man costume...

Surely this isn't a serious game to movie adaptation though right, right?!

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out better than the majority of game to film adaptations out there, which almost always take themselves too seriously. Not much chance of Pacman: The Movie doing that.

This is the only way I can imagine this working, otherwise it'll be some shitty CGI cartoon nonsense.

Yes but it's quite far removed from the source material...I mean a guy wearing a motorcycle helmet, that's just not Pac-Man, the hardcore fans will be out in their droves... :)

I suppose if you used the CG models from Pac-Man World you could probably have a harmless little CG movie, but I think I'll pass.

They are making a Smurfs movie so why not a Pacland movie.
