Best thing about TA: Massive metal map, spend hours just building a base, then set two massive armies on each other.

Am I the only one who's terrified and the specs need to play this game?

Doesnt look like too much of a system-hog. It does look like it could have too many units to be 'clean' for me.

What do you mean by clean disc? I think this looks spiffy. Hopefully it will be delayed long enough for me to justify an upgrade. :D

Been waiting expectantly since this was first announced, the more details I get the more wet with anticipation I become.

This is going to be the biggest thing to happen to the RTS genre since the original TA

If nukes are even half as much fun as in StarCraft I very much look forward to it - and they sounds like the make SCs nukes look like pop guns :D

Whitey: By clean I mean it might be hard to put your units in nice formations easily. The problem with TA was that you all these small bots and you couldnt manipulate them easily.

I require a nice formation functionality for the game, when creating groups with the standard shortcuts I'd like you to be able to then set the formations of the groups so that artillery types can stand behind the brutish powerful bots that can take a punch.

I dont really have a good example but think the formations from a game like rome total war but that you can create these formations yourself.

There are enough screenshots from SupCom that do show a variety of formations. Those little robots in that base or an attacking squadron of tanks in V-formation.

Nevertheless, you all should see it in action => http://www.supcomuniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410 it's hectic but cool.

TA was graphically superior to anything of its time (and a long time after that) and i remember beeing able to run it at me lowbudget p166mmx with a shit ati rage 3dcard. And it was a pleasure to play with. Im sure that they will pull of a similar trick again. If not, i can always rely on me topend pc. :)

Next year? *cry*

This and Spore are probably my most wanted PC games, and have been for a while.

I'm a massive fan of TA, but I'm a little worried that zooming out all the time will take the fun away from the close-up action...how are we supposed to direct multiple battles at the same time?

Ahh I'm with you disc. I know what you mean actually, though with the scale of the whole thing being increased so dramatically I'm sure this is an area that has had a lot of thought put into it. In one of the interviews Mr Taylor talks about the way units attack a base, apparently its far more intelligent than the classic 'everyone drive up to the selected building and shoot at it!' approach.

Roll on 2007 then. And a new PC.

this will be incredible, if TA was anything to go by. I don't think any "traditional" RTS (i'm excluding Total War series from that) has ever really come close to capturing the excitment and adrenaline that game could inspire! It also did naval well, and had nukes that (unlike in Red Alert) actually did some serious, serious damage! Which is what we all want. Naval battles look intense so far, hopefully land and air will be similarly breath-taking!

Wow, you can see through the shoddy capturing to the sheer awesomeness that lies within, in that video.

Hopefully they'll have thought of a decent way of building units quickly -it's always a bugger to have to quickly scroll back to your base to construct reinforcements in the middle of a carefully orcastrated attack, here, the increased scale could increase the problem.
