"heavier focus on action"

*groan* Why is it that all sequels to every game ever have to focus on action, no matter how bad the combat elements from the previous game(s) have been?

By the way, Akira Yamaoka himself said that handhelds don't really lend themselves to horror games, and I agree with him. I guess I'll do a Silent Hill 4 and just buy the soundtrack instead of the game.

"i seriously dont think silent hill will work on the psp. the game has always been about tense atmosphere, sound affects and long drawn out gaming sessions in a darkend room.... non of wich you get when sat on the bog with the psp.."

I second that statement.

About the PS1 game, I've always felt that despite the PS1's lack of basic N64 era features like bilinear filtering, z-buffering, correct texture perspective calculation and anti-aliasing, SH1 was a visual work of art. Walking around town, going inside shops and houses, shows such enormous attention to detail in objects and textures, and love in the way they were put together, that you wonder how they were able to fit it into the console's tiny bit of ram. While a remake might be nice, the original doesn't lack in atmosphere even to this day. Which all the more reinforces my belief that tech specs are a lot less important in achieving graphical beauty than some people like to believe.

Don't agree with the "won't work on PSP argument".

If you're a wuss when it comes to playing survival horror games, like me, it doesn't matter what console it's on. You'll still care enough about your character that you'll be shit scared and don't want to die!

Thanks to the PSP's screen its really easy to get sucked in if you playing in the dark and with headphones.

Actually holding it so close to you, makes the connection even stronger.

I can get totally lost in Syphon Filter this way. It all depends on how they make the game and if its up to standards, simply saying it wont work is short sighted.

This is made by the same team that did the real Silent Hill games, right?

It is about the sound though, and increasingly, surround sound. I'm a huge fan of the series, but when it comes out I might buy a psp and Silent Hill for 7 days to finish it and then return it to GAME for a refund : P

I couldn't agree with you more, Tomo.

I got so scared at the Silent Hill demo that came with Metal Gear Solid, I haven't bought a title in the series! But this is definately one of my purchase priorities.

Don't play Silent Hill on the bog, play it in bed. With headphones.

Although more combat = less fun.

I would of thought the game would of been released on ps2/xbox as it wouldn't take much to port?

I'm not sure if making it more action based is good as SH4 was crap (I know it was not a 'real' silent hill game) but the game was more focused on killing crap monsters

i think that this game may work on the psp. playing it under the bed covers with a pair of sennheisers cans plugged in late in the night does it for me. For me as a rule of thumb i will only play SH late at night when everybody has gone to bed and..bitch! that is enough to scare me into enjoying the game.

Great that it's not a remake, bad that it's on the PSP. And 'more action-based'.

Oh well, maybe we'll get a PS2 port at some point.

More puzzles please, and less combat.

Well, it can't be any worse than SH4, right? Right?
