and, in many ways, is right up there with the quality of the Killzone trailer from E3, which attracted much criticism for being pre-rendered, even though the developers are adamant that it was all entirely built to match the specification of PS3.

Will you ever stop talking bollocks about this? Name me one developer in the entire world who thinks the Killzone vid was real. You won't find one.

As for MGS4: looks aces.

heh i actually saw jaspoids original post before it was "enhanced" and it read

"haha this proves killzone graphics can't be done on a playstation 3 FUGLY!!!"

then it just got sillier with every edit - you'd think he was trying to provoke a reaction or something...

Yes, the demo is impressive. Check out the video at Konami's official site - IT IS THE BEST PROMO OF ANY GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I agree totally, we are being asked to pay a hell of alot more for the next gen (I'm not sure about nintendo) for the games, hardware, peripherals, serivces ....and personaly I think that if sony/microsoft/nintendo wants our hard earned cash/credit card virtual cash, then they better be making games of a standard that justifies the killer price tag.

Aesome looking video and an Old Solid Snake really does seem cool. The injection bit was wicked aswell. Otacon in a robot device is wierd, wbut hell - its the future.

Really looking forward to getting this now.

With all MGS games, the cut scenes are as good as the in game graphics as they are in the same in game engine, innit. So yeh - this is looking awesome and if the gameplay is the same as #3 I'll be happy. Fucking loved #3.

The trailer looks great, just a shame that it is not an FPS. Would have been the first MGS game where you actually see where you are going! :p

And I love the idea of Snake being an old man, I just hope it's not just a gag for the trailer while in the game you play Semi-liquid Snake Mk II who happens to look exactly like a younger Snake or something like this.

I'm glad it's not an FPS. There's a lot of MGS fans who doesn't like FPSs at all, and I'm one of them. Besides, the camera will be revised already in MGS3: Subsistance, so why would they go back to the old fixed system in MGS4? I believe we'll see a fully controllable camera, like in Splinter Cell.

Fun?? Who cares about FUN - this looks like, massive, mentalist, like - gonna sell heaps ;-)

With regard to your enquires about 'fun' both MS and Sony would respectfully request that customers purchase our 'Fun' system add-on from our little sister company, we think it's going to be called 'Revolution' and comes with a magic wand.

First release the MGS 2 trailer, then launch the PS2.
Now release the MGS4 trailer, then launch the PS3.
Anybody starting to see a pattern here?
Wondering how much the Kojima guys get (i.e. from SONY) to make those unbelievably good looking trailers.
Still, I've enjoyed MGS3 to an extreme degree, will definitely give this a shot (when PS3 is under $300, that is)

They've already done the 'move the camera around the scene' thing with this...like they did with the Unreal E3 demo. I guess it's real time without a doubt. And looks even better than the Kzone stuff. Incredible.

LeDilettante : when you comment on something (which you have a full right to do I agree), and then say that you really don't give a damn about it, it pisses people off. Believe me, if you don't, try that on your girlfriend!!!

As for being a Playstation fascist (makes a good change from FB-word!), OK, you can call me that. You see, all I care about is SOFTWARE. And unfortunately I think that's where Playstation (1,2,3) is leading at the moment. The day I discover that X360 or Revo have a better games lineup, I will be converted.

You could do with some cool-minded dialogue instead of name-calling.

The MGS2 trailer was great because it showed things that were new like rain and physics. This trailer doesn't show anything new and nothing really happens... boring. This one only gets fans of the series wet... I don't think it will have the excitement level of the original...

Loved how they played with the FPS letters.. what about MGS... More Generic Stealth.

Funny how every single PS3/Xbox 360 thread turns into a mud-throwing girly fight. I really wish both consoles were here now, so we can skip all this nonsense with comparing MS and Sony and their zealots, and have some decent chat about what really concerns us all: GAMES! And I am looking forward to playing MGS4 on my yet to be born PS3.

It does look very nice, I don't agree you can't comment on this thread if you're not an MGS fan, I'm looking at it like a tech demo (albeit of the dev kit) and it's dead impressive.

To be honest, none of the titles that EG have covered for 360 or PS3 lately have interested me, but the potential is there to be cracking.

I've pre-ordered a 360 without pre-ordering any games (caaaaalm down smelly!) cos I'm not sure if I want any of em, maybe just rent the entire shop out of launch titles on the first weekend then make the decision...
