Loved the first on the 360 and did play to completion, never bought the dlc as I had sold the game by then. I will pick up II, even if it was much of the same.

The first game has been one of my favourite games on the PS3, and played it all the way through. Great fun, and a really clear example of why a good script is essential to bring a game world to life. The humour was perfectly pitched and the whole thing felt so lovably European.

Frankly, it was great to not be playing bloody space marines who grunt at each other for ten hours before violently dismembering a uber-foe who really hadn't done a lot wrong other than be in my way. Anything that avoids that pattern already has plus marks in my book, but Overlord was pitched just right for many weeks of enjoyable Sunday afternoon gaming.

This is very much on my list of games to keep my eye on, and it was good to hear about their efforts towards system parity.

FOR THE OVERLORD! FOR ME! *puts a saucepan on his head*

Like Doctor_What says, it's refreshing to play as something a bit less generic for a change.

Granted the setting is deliberately generic, and the playable character is a stereotype, but it's done deliberately, to make fun of the genre cliches that most games employ completely unironically without even noticing.

Also, spoilers ffs! Spoilers!

Wow, this sounds great. I kind of missed the first one - quite tempted to pick it up for cheap, just to get a flavour of it.

Rianna Pratchett. Strike that one off then. I wonder when it was that she realised that she had the perfect qualifications to be Terry Pratchetts daughter.

Looking forward to this, really fancied picking up the first one on PS3 but didn't see it anywhere and it went out of my thoughts.
Doubt I'll pick it up now think I'll just wait for this as it sounds like more of the same but with improvements !

And with the ending being spoilt too, cheers Kristan ! Dope :)

"what with the actual overlord being dead and that."

Err, what? When I ended my game, he was triumphantly marching across the world in conquest. :/

The Overlord died at the end of Raising Hell, which was the DLC expansion, and tagged onto the PS3 version too. Therefore it wasn't much of a spoiler :)

The Overlord didn't die at the end of Raising Hell. He was sealed in the Infernal Abyss by the Forgotten God and the Minion Jester.
