800 points well done SEGA, you should be rewarded for not joining in on the hike to 1200. Besides...I like Outrun.

I say bring on DLC and sequels. Give us a friends list scoreboard as Oli says, and how about live score updates? "You friend just beat your score on this track" - what a great incentive to try harder! Sort of like how Trackmania's networked multiplayer works, with everyone in the hot seat so to speak.

I don't give a crap about beating my friends. I play the game to have fun playing the game, not trying to constantly one-up the people I've vaguely met online.
Very tempted with this. |

But if you're playing the game to have fun, Outrun 2006 is the better option. And it's cheaper.

I'm not a kid or looking to enlarge my e'peen, but I think friend lists score charts are fun because the only people I list as friends in XBox live are people who are also real friends in real life. So being able to brag about beating a mates best score to their face the next time I see them is a good laugh. Especially since a lot of them are also work colleagues so it creates a lot of sparky banter in the office.

I remember having the first one on the Amiga when I was really young, my god that thing used to crash a lot (the software, not the car!)

Well my sixth (!!!) Xbox 360 died on me three days ago and has been returned to Microsoft for repair so I won't be buying this game for that platform. I'm tempted to buy it for my PS3 though if for no other reason than I've yet to play an OutRun game on a PlayStation console... oh and for the fact that my 25 month old PS3 is still working! I'm still looking forward to the day when I have an Xbox 360 that lasts 18 months nevermind two years!!! ;)

Awesome game BUT... why no ranked online matches? I've just won my first two races back-to-back but there's nothing to record victories etc etc. Boo.

Aye it does indeed have friend leaderboards. But no ranked matches. Not sure why they left it out. Tut tut.

Also, I've only tested the 360 version, so can't compare it to PS3. I can't imagine it's not perfect on both, however. My advice would be to by on the format you have the most friends on or, if that's not an issue, with the pad you like best for racing games.

Just d/l'd this.
Only played it for 5mins - not played the previous versions. It's rather wonderful isn't it. For an XBLA title the presentation and graphics are brilliant. Priced right as wel, if it'd been 1200 it may have been a different matter. One disappointing thing though - No local multiplayer... Please let Crazy Taxi be in the works though. |

No local multiplayer? Real big shame that. Although five minute blasts could easily involve some pad-tossing (and profile-juggling), a split-screen mode would have made this a must buy. I'm looking for games I can sit and play with my non-football-loving flatmate, so the fewer titles that offer local multiplayer, the harder it gets.

If they had put all the Outrun 2 and 2006 content in there I would've bought it straight away but I'll make do with the version I already have for time being.

If they did that we'd almost certainly be looking at a higher price point for it. For people who don't currently own a version of OutRun I think 800MSP/PS3 equivalent is good value for money. |

~£6 is a steal for an arcade perfect port of a game you'd pay £1 a go for usually. Minus the steering wheel, obv.
