I'm not a huge fan of the Outrun remake so I didn't buy the retail games, but if it's 800 points I think I might dabble (probably not as MS like 1200 now)

I just bought Outrun 2 for 4 quid. It works perfectly on 360 now. I'll probably still buy this though for achievements/trophys:)

This will probably look like a bit of a weak effort compared to Wipeout HD. Especially with a crazy pricing scheme.

Graphically, it's quite dated. At least on PSN, methinks it doesn't stand much of a chance unless it comes at a significantly lower price than the AAA competition on PSN (WipeOut, BP & GT5P)

More info about the online mode would be nice in the run up to its release, have the PSP version, shame the additional C2C content isn't included as its of a high standard. Got nothing against them putting things like this up, especially if it can show there is a market for, and to help fund proper Sega games.

I loved Outrun. Was overjoyed to hear of this release, and I'll be getting hold of it the moment I can. Need to see if I can persuade my friends to do the same.

C2C always crapped out for me using backwards compatibility (lots of sound glitches and the occasional crash) so I'll probably pick this up.

Looking forward to this, although I fear they'll be charging 1200 points for it. Loved C2C and it still holds up well graphically, I think. Perhaps they're planning to add the Coast 2 Coast content as DLC, for extra ker-ching.

Unless you are playing in a big plastic Ferrari in the arcades its just not the same experience. The same goes for Afterburner.

But if the price is right this can take me back to the good old days of the 80's.

It's apparently exclusive to the European PSN because MS bought the exclusive rights to the US to keep it off PSN there.

It's not like Sony made a concious decision to restrict the title to the EU.

While developing Coast 2 Coast, Sumo mentioned on another message board that they would've liked to have included support for steering wheels (including force feedback). Is there any word on whether this has been included this time around? One of the things that made these games so much fun in the arcade was the sense of having to fight the wheel on the turns.

Considering the absence of the Outrun 2 courses (surely held back so that they can charge people for the DLC in the future), if this is anymore than 800 points, it'll be appalling.

Coast 2 Coast was a real blast, so I hope they've nailed this one. Graphics are underwhelming, though, and I don't like the sound of player matches only. 800 points sound fair to me.

I bought C2C on the Steam sale at the start of the year after playing it to death on the PSP. It doesn't look too bad at 720p.

I would go out and buy the MS wheel if I knew it was 100% compatible with this.

Hmm... looks like the PS2/Xbox version with SD assets blown to full resolution. Looks kinda weird. As I already have C2C on PSP I won't be getting this. Everyone else probably should.

@oreillymj:

Sorry but that hasn't been reported anywhere. There's no evidence whatsoever to support that theory.

Outrun just isn't a big enough franchise for MS to shell out for exclusive rights. It would be ridiculous. Especially considering the other Outrun 2 games didn't sell well at all.

It's just anti-Microsoft zealots letting their conspiracy theories run wild.

My Outrun 2006 runs grand on the 360 except for a crash after an hour of play (it's like clockwork) so I'll be sticking with it.

Yep, force feedback support is in for both platforms. So either MS Wheel on 360, or Logitech etc on PS3.

I'll forward to Sega alll the price comments :P

So, let me translate this theory. If it's MS exclusive for US, it's because MS are a bunch of bullies who take the sweets out of poor Sony. If it comes exclusively for PSN in Europe, it wasn't a " concious decision to restrict the title to the EU"..."

lol! The problem with the anti-MS thing is while the years pass by things get... funnier.

redneon: It's been reported all over the place, but mainly from this article:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/art...

No reasons given, just that it's not appearing on PSN in the US.

OT, however, I think I'll give it a demo before splashing out.

I've yet to pick up PGR4 so the wheel might come in handy at £60-70.

I still haven't gotten over our local cinema multiplex replacing Outrun 2 Arcade with Need For Speed /o\

It's a PSN title with substantial amount of content and replayability with comparable features but also with upgraded visuals.

Bit disappointing about the lack of visual upgrades, but I'm still sorta keen on the game as long as the price is fair (as suggested, £7 seems reasonable).

If it's 800 points: totally.
If it's 1200 points: I'll have to really decide if it's worth that.
If it's 1600 points: they can chuff right off, I'll put the Xbox disc in instead.

I just bought Outrun 2 for about the same - it's nearly perfect on the 360 - I'm sure it's not the solid 60fps that it runs on the Xbox.

Great for my bedroom Xbox, though.

Try Sega Ages for the Saturn. That one's Arcade perfect.

The Xbox version of Outrun 2 IS the Arcade version.

Also - there is an achievement in this game named Legend, which involves placing 1st in 5 ranked multiplayer matches in a row.

Unless something's changed - this game has ranked matches.

Yes. More RAM in the Arcade machine, and no load times.

Try an RGB SCART cable or component cable.
