Original Resident Evil coming to PSN

Director's Cut to cost under a tenner.

Capcom plans to re-release Resident Evil: Director's Cut via PlayStation Network this week.

According to the Capcom blog, it will be available from Thursday priced at USD 9.99 (around GBP 6 / EUR 7).

As Resi buffs will know, the Director's Cut was released 18 months after the original game. Extra features include the Arrangement Mode, which changes the location of items and enemies.

There's no word on whether the game will be available in PSN Stores worldwide, but if it's exclusive to North America you could always set yourself up with a US PSN ID.

They should really, really make those door-opening scenes skippable. It interrupts the flow of the game and feels archaic.

Those were there to hide loading times, how would they be possible to skip?

^^ They are skippable in the DS version by simply pressing a button.

It's been on the Japanese store for 600yen since 2007.

Lol, in that case it's a bit stupid they put them there.

Well better late than never (too late for me, already have DC again, gave up waiting. PSP CF FTW). Seems expensive though for a PS1 on PSN (not too sure on US pricing tho)? Taking advantage of a popular game Capcom? No not you surely... :)

/ goes back to 1/DC/2/3 on his PSP.....

Why is this more expensive than any other PS1 game on PSN then?

The loading time will vary from platform to platform. The DS obviously loads from cart, which is a lot faster than disc, so the delay was not necessary (but was likely left in for authenticity or something). You would hope that a PSN version would also allow the delay to be skipped if it was not needed (I doubt it is, running the software from disc on a PS3).

    @kangarootoo

Hey, leave disc out of it, he seems like a nice fellow.

Since I had to read your last sentence a few times to understand it: disc is a CD, disk is a HDD (no, really). PLS don't take it the wrong way. It really required mental effort on my part ;-) Stayed up too late fighting with ffmpeg.

As I still prefer the original Resi's to the new ones I don't mind the door scenes too much. Sure it would save time without them but I don't mind either way.

It's a shame they didn't port over the Gamecube remake. Although the stupid door bits weren't skippable in it either.

The door loading screens genuinely breed fright though. It's part of the game. I never skipped them when I completed it on DS.

I'm with imamazed, I think the door loading times add anticipation.

I remember getting so in-sync with them that I could tell (roughly) how many baddies would be in the next room, depending on how long the door load took to complete..
