Carmack spills beans.

Reports suggest that id Software's mobile phone game Orcs & Elves will be appearing on the Nintendo DS.

"We're hoping to do a DS game version of Orcs and Elves," id guru John Carmack told Game|Life. "Moving over and enhancing the cell phone game on there would be our first real direct entry back into the Nintendo world."

Orcs & Elves is a first-person turn-based fantasy RPG, published by EA, which is due for release on mobile phones this February.

It's built on the engine from DOOM RPG, id's first venture into the world of Java, which we talked exclusively to John Carmack about last year.

There's currently no scheduled release date for the DS version.

This guy gave me the worse spoonful of a generic game called Doom 3 i've ever had.

*and.....relax.*

I'll be looking into this game, when it launches has anyone played the Mobile Phone game Elves and Orcs?

I own a Nokia N-Gage. For being touted as a mobile gaming platform, the damn thing sure doesn't manage to play much. No Java games work on it! Grr.

Doesn't ID always release their source code after a year or so? I would very much like to see how they tackled a number of peculiar graphics problems in jame.

Doom RPG was good for a phone game, but I wouldn't pay to play something similar on DS.

I believe they said half a year or so ago, that if they would get Doom RPG or Orcs & Elves on the DS they would be different from the mobile versions. Either way, I will probably buy it. Carmack is my god.
