Operation Arrowhead released

ArmA II expandalone breaks cover.

Bohemia Interactive has released ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead for PC.

Operation Arrowhead is a standalone expansion that puts you in the no-doubt realistically modelled footwear of the US Army in a fictional Asian country called Takistan.

While it can be played on its own, Operation Arrowhead can also be integrated in ArmA II if you already own that.

The official website has a list of retailers stocking it, including digital distribution venues. It costs £24.99 on Steam.

You'll be able to read our review of the expandalone later today, but in the meantime check Tim Stone's detailed Operation Arrowhead hands-on preview to get a sense of it - or watch the video below.

Night ops in Operation Arrowhead.

    On a Wednesday? Really?

I already spent too much on upgrades to try and run Arma 2 at a steady 30fps - and even that failed. Unless they've done something to improve performance I might have to reluctantly skip this one :(

Latest patch have fixes for multicore processors, don't know if that's a problem for you glottis0 but it could improve performance. The SP campaign may still be a stutter fest though.

I played the newly updated version (1.07) of ARMA 2 last night. Although, Steam insisted upon redownloading almost the entire game in the patch (7.2gb)...

Still, the framerate is vastly improved (for me) and the game feels a lot better. Great game, by the way.

Might have to give the original another run to see if the patches have made it playable. It's a brilliant game, it just needs to be a little less clunky.

The latest patch not only updates the multi threaded support to scale with more then 2 processors. It also allows large memory addressing... AKA 64bit support, it can access more than 2gb of memory now.

Hokum neato. It felt a bit silly when I upgraded from C2D to a i7 and while it certainly performed better had this weird stuttering due to hyperthreading.
