Online co-op for White Knight Story News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

9 October, 2008

White Knight Story will let four friends join together online and tackle quests.

Better still, the PS3-exclusive JRPG will use a lobby system where 16 people can gather, chat, and then break off into groups - according to Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation (read and scanned by PS3Hyper).

We're expecting to hear more about White Knight Story at the Tokyo Game Show.

So far, we know the game is developed by Level-5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy, Professor Layton) and will be out in Japan on Christmas Day.

Otherwise, all of our information comes from admittedly rather impressive videos and screenshots. You can see those in our White Knight Story gamepage.

FYI: The quests you play online with your friends are separate from the single player story mode. So think of it as an extra for you to grind your characters with your friends.

Me likes. :)

Finally a Japaneese dev doing something different and using features of these "next gen" consoles to the fullest.

That being said even if it is Level 5...

Japaneese dev + Online = cautiously optimistic.

Am interested though I haven't played any other Level-5 RPG (I can't stand DQ VIII's art work - I used to watch a bit of Dragon Ball Z before all of a sudden (and way too late) I realized how utterly rubbish it was; and their other games were released at a time I had too much games on the 'still-to-play' pile).

Yet I have to say that after playing some SMT RGPs traditional stuff like this and FF has lost much of their sheen. I'm looking forward more to PS2's Persona 4 for example.
