Figures for US and Europe rather high too.

Nintendo has published a chart showing that one in five Japanese citizens own a DS.

As reported by Kotaku, 26.1 million handhelds have been shifted in the country - which has a population of 127 million people.

A whopping 29.3 million DS units have been sold in North America, while the figure for Europe is 33.1 million. That's an awful lot of gold coins.

I hope the DS and Wii outsell PS2 lifetime sales. I don't see that happening for the Wii though unless they catch the DRE bug.

Lol at the maths error!

That a freaking lot of DS out there! I got quite a few versions of it at home, so say how many DS owners are multi DS owners? Due to first NDS version, DS Lite and the DSi?!

Utter tosh. They have almost certainly sold enough DSs that you would have 1 sold for every 5 people in Japan, but that is NOT the same as 1 in 5 people actually owning one.

Stupid Kotaku. It is that sort of dumbass statement that results in people not understanding stats..... speaking of which...
