Okami Wii in summer - source News

Wii News by Robert Purchese

25 January, 2008

A man on the inside has told Eurogamer that Okami Wii will be out here in summer. He sleeps in the walls.

His words scupper suggestions from retailers that it will be out the same week as the US version that arrives on 25th March.

But Capcom Europe has remained reluctant to comment, leaving us with an initial and probably US forecast of spring to go by.

Okami is an action-adventure that Kristan bangs on and on about, claiming it was his joint favourite game of 2007. Which is probably why he gave it 10/10.

You play as a god who runs around as a wolf and saves the world from evil using a paintbrush and some much needed advice from his calligrapher bug friend Issun. Imagine the best bits of Zelda bundled with innovative combat system and heart warming art.

The translation to Wii is being handled by Ready at Dawn of Daxter and God of War PSP fame. Its paintbrush flourishes should fit the controls immaculately.

Pop over to our Okami review to find out why you shouldn't miss out on this a second time round.

One of the two games I would have bought a PS2 for, which I never did. The other game being Guitar Hero. Thanks to both games being released on either the 360 or the Wii I don't have to miss out anymore. Yay!

So the US gets it in March and we get it in the Summer? Brilliant. Microsoft brings gaming forward significantly(almost zero delays on Western software releases), Nintendo shoves it back again. Fucking typical. Maybe it'll have to compete with Smash Bros. Brawl, which is also out in the US in March, and will bet-your-life-on-it be out no earlier than May over here.

and then:

I'm a little puzzled now...so is it summer or March? Or does the summer in the UK already start in March?

I know Capcom are mainly just trying to port the exact same game with a new control scheme, but I'd really appreciate it if they threw in a few visual updates and a bit of extra content.

That's not to say the graphics really need updating, as they're still better than most Next-Gen offerings. However, I think using the Wii hardware could equal less screen-tearing, and a longer draw-distance. And although the game itself has more than enough content, it would still be cool for a couple of extra features I think.

So you're ruling out the possibility that they will break the Wii version with shitty controls?

Europe gets screwed over again by a wii game!!!

SHOCK HORROR

Getting pretty fed up of this now, endless delays and No More heroes being censored!!! The game is half as violent as Resident Evil 4, which is fully available uncut as a 15 certificate. It'll be a long, long time before we get smash bros.!

imamazed, stop your whining about the censored violence. As long as the gameplay isn't affected, who need bloody violence. I don't give a shit about blood in "No more Heroes"

I'm not too fussed either, but it's the principle of the thing. There's no reason to do so! In this instance it doesn't actually make much difference (making the cut all the more pointless) but if this sets a benchmark for other european version, I shant be happy.

Is NMH really censored? Assuming you consider the Japanese release the "original" version then we are getting that, maybe its more that the US version has a bonus feature?
