Practice for upcoming compo.

Activision has said that the official Guitar Hero III demo will be on Live Marketplace tomorrow, otherwise known as a day before my birthday.

We say official because earlier we told you that clever, maths-liking folks from Internet had worked out a way for you to download it already, then burn it to disc and play it on a normal, unmodified 360.

The demo builds up to a Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Weekend that will offer prizes to fastest fingers, and even let you shred-off against members of the development team.

The competition runs from 2nd to 4th November, and could see you walking away with a limited edition guitar faceplate signed by hairy guitar player Slash.

Activision will be popping the official website for the competition up tomorrow, where you will be able to find a full list of terms and conditions like if you have to be in the US to win, for example.

The publisher also stamped confirmation on the 23rd November date for the PS3, 360, PS2 and Wii versions of the game earlier today, although Aspyr Media is handling the PC version so we aren't sure about that one.

Never played any music based games like GH, Singstar, and never want to. It screams X factor to me, retards who think they're the next Michael Jackson or Guns and roses.

Yes I'm taking it all to serious, but that's how much these types of games, and X factor make me want to puke until I die.

But it's not karaoke is it? It's bemani. Hardly fair to chuck GH in with Singstar.

Yes, controllers work but you don't have to strum, so it's like playing DDR on a pad with 5 buttons.

Guitar Freaks worked ok without the guitar, although nowhere near as fun. I can't see GH working as well since it uses two extra buttons.

GH1 and 2 (on PS2 and 360) worked fine on the pads (4 shoulder buttons/triggers and X/A depending on the console)

The demo is ok. Not a revolution from GH2 but some nice touches like showing you exactly what your note streak is although to be honest I am not sure how you are supposed to see anything other than the major numbers hit without screwing up the run anyway.

Definately worth a look if you liked GH2

Yes you can play on a pad, although not recommended obviously.

In fact, GH3 has a 15-point achievement for completing Hard or Expert using only the controller - so hardcore gamerscore whores are going to have to get used to it

since i'm not gonna buy the old gh2 guitar to play a demo when in a month the gh3 guitar will be out i reckon alotta people are gona try this out with a pad. I've got the ps2 guitar controller but obviously that aint gonna be much use on the 360.
