Obscure: The Aftermath coming to PSP

High School Musical meets survival horror.

The second instalment in the Obscure survival horror series is on the way to PSP.

Obscure: The Aftermath follows the adventures of those who survived the Leafmore High disaster. Now students at Fallcreek University, they're trying to forget all about those nasty homicidal monsters.

But then black flowers start appearing all over campus. Turns out they can cause strange dreams, and next thing you know it's all gone wrong and those stains will never come out.

The game features six individual characters, all with unique skills. There's a co-op mode so a second player can join in at any time, and controls have been "fully optimised" for the PSP.

Obscure: The Aftermath is already available for PC, PS2 and Wii - read our review for the full lowdown. The PSP version is due to hit North America this September, with a European date still to be announced.

The first one was so much better. Hope they maintain the multiplayer (via Ad-hoc) as thats what elevated the PS2 series from mediocrity to being actually pretty good...

EDIT: doh, trust me to just skim read, it does say Co-op in the article.

I think the Obscura franchise has some nice legs on it. I only hope they continue the strange story and the aversion to light style monsters. It made things different from silent hill and biohazard. Also having naive teenagers as the main protagonists was a very good call. After all they could say the world was on fire. Every adult would see the burning buildings and still accuse the kids of being on drugs or making it up.

Nice, I never did get around to playing it on PStwo, partly because it looks so rough on an HDTV, so as I did with Silent Hill: Origins, I'll be making my purchase of this one on PSP.

I rather liked Obscure. Never played the second one, so I'll probably scoop this up if the price is right.

I played and really enjoyed Obscure (it was short and sweet, and a co-op survival horror in days when such a thing didn't exist), but never picked up Obscure II.

This coming to PSP may well inspire me to track it down on PS2.. ; )
