No Red Alert 3 PS3 this year News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

5 November, 2008

Electronic Arts has denied that Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 will be released for PlayStation 3 this year.

Earlier this week Red Alert producer David Silverman told VideoGamer that "there's definitely people working on a PS3 version".

But he also went on to add: "If you're a PS3 owner and you don't own a PC and you don't have an Xbox 360 you don't have to write on your Christmas or Hanukkah list that you want to have an Xbox." This led to speculation we'd be playing it this side of 2009.

However, an EA spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning: "There are no plans for a PS3 release of Red Alert 3 anytime before Christmas."

Silverman also said that the team was "putting in a lot of cool content and really taking advantage of both the 1080p nature and the high-defness of Blu-ray and also the fact that it can hold just so much more space".

EA wasn't able to comment on that at the time of writing, but we'll let you know.

The PS3 version of Red Alert 3 had been put on hold, you may remember, in order to focus on the PC and 360 versions, but it was never cancelled.

In the meantime, C&C Red Alert 3 is out now on PC (check out our Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 PC review for that), and the 360 version releases on 14th November.

Make it run smooth, make the controls work on console, and make it able to play user-made maps... Then I'll buy it.

Great with 1080p support (if it's native)... but mouse/keyboard support would be better :)

confirmed Gemma Atkinson boobies in 1080p ;-)

at least that's what i am assuming all this "extra space" is going to be used for, if the current advertising is anything to go by.

"it can hold just so much more space"

How can you hold more space?

was thinking that myself lol.
isnt 'space' the absence of everthing? isnt it essentially nothingness?
how can one hold it?
or paradoxically hold 'More' Space?
hehe.

The PS3 supports mouse and keyboard for games though, e.g. Unreal Tournament III, unlike the 360 (because Microsoft said no) so there's no real reason for EA not to include them in that version as an optional way of playing the game.

Agreed.
The "online advantage" excuse doesn't hold water either, the game can always separate rooms based on used controls.

Glad they're neither delaying the 360 version for this, nor are they rushing the PS3 game or releasing it in the 10fps state it's probably in now.

The PS3 needs more special treatment and resources than a Pixar film.
